The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 305

Hayley carried herself with effortless confidence. She led from the front, and she had the power to match. Everyone exchanged looks, then instinctively glanced at Liam and Milo sitting on either side of Hayley.

One was the leader of Base K1, the other the leader of Firebrand Base. Liam looked calm and composed, while Milo looked openly approving.

In short, both of them clearly thought Hayley was absolutely right.

At moments like this, Hayley had to be the one speaking.

Hayley had always been Liam’s mouthpiece. Liam was too generous and polite to say things this bluntly. He couldn’t bring himself to humiliate people like that, either.

Milo, on the other hand, had a hot temper. If he were the one talking, half of the people in the room might already be dead. Neither option worked.

Only Hayley could do it. She was direct and ruthless, saying things as they were.

A stretch of silence followed as the leaders of the various bases weighed their options.

“I still want some time to think,” a small base leader finally said, standing up and leaving.

After he left, several more small bases followed.

“Same here.”

Soon, only four or five bases remained in the room.

“Aegis Base is willing to join!”

“Fortuna Base is willing to join!”

“Victory Base is willing to join!”

“Bluewater Base is willing to join!”

“Hope Base is willing to join too,” Alex said last, “but I still have a condition I want to discuss.”

Hayley rolled her eyes. “Spit it out.”

“Hope Base is made up entirely of researchers. We want to only handle research and provide technical guidance for your operations.”

Hayley sighed. “Get out.”

“I know where a weapons depot is,” Alex continued calmly.

Hayley finally looked at him properly.

“If you allow Hope Base to join the league but exempt us from combat, I’ll tell you the location of the weapons depot.”

Hayley looked at Liam and Milo. The three of them leaned in for a quick discussion.

Afterward, Hayley said, “You can join the league. But if your base doesn’t contribute, you still won’t get any supplies.

Alex looked at her. “What counts as a contribution?”

“One weapons depot location is worth 1,000 points. Beyond that, any major research achievements your base submits and gets approved here can also earn points. Otherwise, once your points are used up, you’ll have no contribution.“

Hayley used a points system to keep him in check.

After thinking for five minutes, Alex nodded. “Fine. Hope Base formally applies to join.”

That day, the Haylight League absorbed a total of five bases.

Hayley then discussed things with Liam, Mite, and Malcolm before establishing a more complete league system.
