Chapter 304
After Alex finished speaking, the others quickly followed.
“Captain Reid, our base is in serious trouble. Since spring started, not a single drop of rain has fallen. We’ve got no food left!”
“Same here. Our farmland was limited to begin with, and now, it’s hopeless!”
“Our base ran out of food a long time ago. At best, we can hold on for one more week.”
“We heard you’ve already taken over two districts. You must have plenty of supplies. Please help us get through this together!”
“We’re all human. When disaster hits, we should help each other!”
When Hayley heard that last line, she looked at the speaker. “Which base are you from?”
“Providence Base. Doug Atkinson.”
“I think what you said sounds great. We’re all human, so we should help each other. So tell me, how can Providence Base help?”
“Well… Our base doesn’t have much in the way of supplies, so we can’t really help right now.”
Hayley let out a short laugh. “Then that’s not helping each other. That’s us helping you, one-sided.”
Doug fell silent. After hesitating, he said, “B-But you have so many supplies. What’s wrong with helping us a little?”
“Do you have any shame?” Scarlett snapped before Hayley could respond.
“Our supplies were bought with our lives! Have you fought even one battle with us? Do you know how many people we lost for those supplies? Do you know how cold March and April were? How hot it is outside now? We fought through freezing winters and scorching summers while you hid in the back! What right do you have to open your mouth and ask us for food?”
Scarlett was young and hot-headed, and she couldn’t stand hearing that kind of talk.
After she finished, Hayley lifted a hand. “Scarlett, no need to say all that. Just throw him out.”
“That’s a bit much!”
“We know you’ve worked hard, but there’s no need to kick someone out!”
“Come on. It was just a throwaway comment.”
Hayley’s eyes turned cold. “Throw him out!”
Scarlett didn’t hesitate. She grabbed the man, dragged him away from the long table, and tossed him outside.
When the other 19 base representatives saw that Hayley wasn’t bluffing, the expressions on their faces immediately grew
serious.
She meant it.
And thinking back to how Hayley had dealt with Ironlock Base earlier, any trace of contempt disappeared instantly.
The supreme commander of the Haylight League might be a woman, but she was absolutely not someone to mess with.
When the room fell silent, Hayley spoke again.
“We agreed to meet you because we’re all human.
“You need help, but understand this. Help means I pull you up, and you’re capable of standing on your own afterward. That’s help. It’s not me doing charity for you. If you want charity, then you might as well be eliminated now. A bunch of idiots waiting to be spoon-fed have no business surviving.”
Cherters Patt
Everyone paused.

They suddenly realized where the Haylight League’s signature opening line came from. So that was Hayley talking
“Hayley,” Alex spoke up at that moment. “I can consider joining you, but I have a condition.”
