Chapter 311
Hayley stared at the man in front of her, the corners of her mouth slowly lifting.
“Compared to your abilities as an inventory-variant Gifted, we’re more interested in what’s inside your inventory.”
The color drained from Norris’s face instantly
Damn it! Was she serious?
It wasn’t like Norris had never thought about the risk of exposing his inventory. What he had always weighed was the value of himself as an inventory-type Gifted.
Clearly, an inventory-type Gifted was far more valuable than the limited supplies stored inside, right?
In his mind, him coming over to pledge loyalty should’ve made them eager to take him in.
And yet, this woman ended up saying she only wanted his supplies!
That was like keeping the box and throwing away the treasure, or killing the goose for one meal.
Right then, a voice came from behind him. “Jim! Norris is trying to betray us!”
At a nearby resting area, Jim and the others spotted Norris and rushed over.
Hearing that, Norris reacted like someone seeing rescuers.
“I didn’t betray you!” He hurried toward Jim and the others. “Jim, I’m a loyal member of Sunfire Base. I’d never betray you!”
“He just said he wanted to join us,” Hayley’s voice carried over calmly.
Norris nearly exploded with rage and wanted to punch her. “I didn’t! I’d never leave you!”
Jim looked Norris up and down, weighed things for a moment, then said, “Everyone, go back.”
He turned to Hayley’s group with a polite nod. “Sorry about that. I’ll discipline my people properly.”
“When managing your people, loyalty comes first. Don’t get sentimental over useless, half-baked abilities,” Hayley said evenly
Jim’s eyes lit up for a split second. He glanced at Hayley, who was quietly eating.
“Thank you. I understand.”
Jim then led his people back to their camp.
Not long after they left, Hayley heard arguing break out again from the nearby base. A moment later, a man’s voice rang ou loudly.
“Fine! Take it all! You ungrateful, blind idiois!”
Under a nearby light source, a pile of supplies suddenly appeared out of thin air Moments later, a man was shoved out of theat camp.
“Gee, that’s it?” Hayley shook her head when she saw Norrts get kicked out
She was surprised that a traitor like that wasn’t killed or restrained, they just took his supplies and tossed huu out
“That’s soft hearted That kid’s way too merciful. He’s going to pay for it,” Milo commented.
