Hayley’s group set up a steaming hot meal on their side.
Tonight, it was a one-pot baked pasta. Fresh pasta formed the base, loaded with diced chicken, ham, bacon, eggs, assorted dried meal packs, and seasoning packets, all cooked together in a massive pot.
Everyone was handed a full metal mug packed with meat, vegetables, and carbs, with an ice-cold drink on the side.
The flavor was insanely good.
“Ever since teaming up with the boss, we’ve been eating way better,” Derek said happily while shoveling food into his mouth.
After joining forces with Hayley, the happiest ones were definitely Derek’s group.
Forget everything else, just the food upgrade alone was huge.
They were so spoiled now that they didn’t even want to go back to their own base anymore. They would rather stay out fighting zombies every day with the league squads, even with all the danger, than go home to watered-down veggie soup over rice or pasta.
Sure, Base K1’s food had improved a lot, too. But it still couldn’t compare to this.
Just as Derek was eating happily, someone suddenly walked toward their camp.
“Wow, your food smells amazing!”
The tall, skinny Norris strode over to Hayley’s campsite. After arriving, he scanned the area, then let his gaze linger on Hayley for a few extra seconds.
His eyes were filled with naked excitement and greed.
Hayley immediately felt a wave of disgust.
She had run into plenty of people like this in her last life, but since starting over, almost no one dared look at her this way
anymore.
That was because she had long since stopped living in the same gutter as trash like them.
And yet today, some idiot with no sense wandered right over.
“I’m from the team nearby. Thanks for helping us earlier. Name’s Norris,” he said, acting overly familiar as he tried to sit down.
A rough voice cut in immediately. “Who said you could sit?”
Milo’s sharp eyes lazily landed on him, like a tiger sizing up weak prey.
Feeling that gaze, Norris smiled even wider and more ingratiating.

“You must be the boss here! Big guy, you’ve got presence, real presence. Just sitting there, you stand out like a king among men Powerful, commanding. I knew at a glance you weren’t ordinary!”
Milo chuckled and looked at Hayley. “Really?”
“Get lost,” Hayley said flatly.
“What do you want?” Liam asked coldly.
Norris’s crafty eyes flicked around. “Oh, I get it. You must be the second in command! You seem calm, steady, and low key, but still intimidating. The moment I saw your team, I knew you were special. With leaders like you two, no wonder everyone here looks elite!”

Liam fell silent.
