Chapter 319
Victor’s group stared at Hayley in shock.
So strong…
Just then, Jim hurried down from the third floor. “What happened?”
“Daniel turned into a zombie!”
Half an hour later, Jim led everyone through a full sweep of the entire lodge.
They discovered that the window in Daniel’s room had been opened. Judging by the marks, the zombie had climbed in through there.
“This definitely wasn’t an accident. Someone did it on purpose,” Victor said.
“But we were all together during dinner. No, wait… Bridget wasn’t there,” Julian said quietly. It was the first time he had spoken
Bridget, who had just come downstairs with Jim, instantly flared up.
Just as she was about to start yelling, Jim quickly cut in. “Don’t make accusations when there’s no evidence.”
He shut their mouths, but not their thoughts. Feeling everyone’s eyes on her, Bridget turned and ran upstairs again.
In the crowd, Hayley noticed Mona’s reaction. The girl shrank into Julian’s arms, her eyes constantly flicking toward where
Daniel had been.
Julian held her and whispered, “Don’t be scared. It’s okay. No matter what happens, I’ll protect you.”
Mona nodded timidly.
After the incident was handled, Jim sent Victor and Todd to the basement to check what had gone wrong with the power. He led the rest to inspect the villa’s interior again.
“Be careful tonight. There’s something fishy about what happened,” Liam said after they split up.
They looked at the dinner Jim had prepared for them. “Let’s eat our own food.”
“Yeah.”
That was what Hayley was thinking, too.
