Chapter 321
Julian and Mona stayed behind.
“Jul, let’s go upstairs together,” he said.
“Don’t call me Jul,” Julian snapped.
With the others gone, Julian finally showed his irritation toward Mona, He tried to shake her hand off, but he didn’t have much strength left and could only let her cling to him.
“Jul…” Mona looked up at him like a fragile little bird, her eyes stubborn and resolute at the same time.
“Tell me the truth,” Hayley said to Mona. “Did you take the supplies?”
Mona looked toward Hayley and met her bright, piercing gaze. It felt like every secret she had ever hidden was being laid bare She tightened her grip on Julian’s arm and slowly lowered her head, shaking it timídly. “I didn’t take them.”
“Who’s going to believe you now?” Julian rubbed his temples hard, trying to stay awake.
Mona’s rabbit-like eyes reddened even more. She lowered her head and didn’t say a word.
She had known it would be like this. No matter what she did or said, no one was ever going to trust someone like her.
That was why she had decided to leave alone tonight.
“I believe you,” Hayley said again.
Mona looked up at her in shock.
“Just tell me everything you know,” Hayley said calmly. “Whatever you say, I’ll believe you.”
Mona’s red, timid eyes flickered with a hint of light. She stared at Hayley, then glanced at Julian, took a deep breath, and finally spoke.
“I have inventory-variant gifts. I did steal team supplies before, but I was caught every time, so I stopped. Daniel found out about my gift and threatened me. He said if I didn’t go to his room tonight, he’d expose my secret.
