The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 322

“Because you risked your life save her foday, Hayley said while looking at Moga, who had her head down and couldn’t se another word

Mona was sensitive, not stupid. Earlier, she had drugged everyone and run, but when she caître back, Julian had still opened the door for her. That kind of loyalty would move anyone.

Even a heart of steel would melt, let alone someone like Mona, who looked full of little schemes but was actually simple at hercore.

Then, Mona suddenly remembered something. “Right! When I ran earlier, I think I vaguely saw Norris.”

“Norris?” Julian’s expression changed.

Just then, the lights above them, which had just been fixed, started flickering again. The atmosphere instantly turned strange.

“Something happened in the basement!” Julian said.

Hayley and the others immediately rushed toward the source of the noise. As always, Hayley stayed cautious and left a few people outside, telling Leonard to keep watch at all times.

When they reached the basement entrance, they saw the heavy basement door locked from the outside with a thick padlock. There wasn’t a single person nearby.

From behind the door came dull, frantic pounding, and faint, nearly muffled cries for help that you could only hear up close.

“Help!”

“Help!”

“Please save us!”

Hayley grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher canister and smashed it hard against the lock. After a few heavy hits, the lock fell off.

She stepped back two paces. The basement door swung open, and a strong stench of blood rushed out.

There were only three people in the basement, but packed in with them were countless zombies.

“Raarh!”

A paper-thin spatial barrier was barely holding back the charging zombie swarm. Todd, closest to the door, was erving as he pounded on it.

Just as everyone was about to give up, the door finally opened.

“Todd!” Julian rushed to the basement entrance and grabbed Todd as he climbed up. Whether it was adrenaline or the sleeping pills wearing off, he suddenly had more strength.

Just as Todd was about to make it oui, a zombie leaped over the air barrier, sprang several yards in one bound, and lunged straight for him.

At that critical moment, Victor threw himself forward and wrapped his arms around Todd

Rip!

The zombie sank its teeth into Victor’s back.

“Go!” Victor roared. He twisted his waist with all his strength, hugged Todd tight, and flung him upward, throwing hum out

“Vic! Vie!” Todd panicked the instant he landed. “Vic! Why did you do that?!”“I’m fine! Victor turned and looked at Jim, who was still barely holding on, though he was actually already at his limit

The moment Jim’s air barrier collapsed, Victor grabbed him too and hurled him upward.

“Jim, he’s my only brother. I’ll beg you for one thing. Take care of him in the future. Please!”

After throwing Jim out, Victor stood alone at the basement entrance. Behind him, a dense mass of zumbies howled as they rushed him.

“Close the door!”

“Vic! Vic!” Todd went mad, trying to rush back toward the basement.
