Half of the zombie’s body was trapped in a swamp left behind by the heavy rain. Only its upper half was exposed, washed wit mud until it blended in with the broken trees around it.

Bridget ran toward it, screaming, “George! George! Don’t leave me again! George, I’m coming with you!”

“Bridget!” Jim realized who the zombie was and chased after her.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t grab her hand this time.

“That’s a zombie! A zombie!”

“Don’t chase her,” Hayley said calmly. “To her, even if he’s a zombie now, she still wants to be with him ”

When Jim heard that, he suddenly slowed to a stop.

He watched Bridget step over loose stones, broken logs, and countless obstacles, wading straight into the swamp.

The one-armed zombie, half-buried in the mud, sensed her approach.

It struggled violently in the mire that was trapping it, thrashing toward Bridget as hard as it could…as if some faint trace of awareness remained in it, and it was desperately responding to her.

At that moment, a half-collapsed tree trunk above them crashed down with a heavy thud, piercing straight through the zombie’s chest. The mud-covered creature lowered its head, staring blankly at its new condition.

The next second…

A living woman threw herself into its arms. The sharp trunk pierced through her chest as well.

Fresh blood flooded out, waking up the zombie’s senses, which had been clogged with mud.

“Raarh! Raarh! Raarh! Raarh!”

It opened its mouth, once packed with dirt. Large chunks of dried mud fell from its face as it clutched the woman night at Dad into her again and again.

The woman clung to it just as tightly.

“George, they all pick on me. You’re the only one who was ever good to me We’ll be together forever
