The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 330

This was the apocalypse.

The bases could be weaker. They could come with no supplies at all. They could rely on the strong.

But the premise was an alliance of people who actually wanted to be strong.

You could be weak in strength, but your mindset had to be strong.

Hayley wasn’t going to carry people who were weak and still stuck in a helpless victim mentality.

So we’re not helping them at all?Alex asked.

Send them my blessings. I’ll send 365 blessings for the number of days in a year. Is that enough?

Alex was stunned speechless.

Hayley hung up on Alex and went right back to studying the next phase of the west side offensive with the team.

After the call ended, Alex slowly adjusted the radio frequency in his hand. After a brief pause, he spoke.

Listen up, idiots. If you want to join the Haylight League, get here on your own. No one is coming to save you. Of course, the Haylight League will offer you our sincerest blessings. Our league leader, Hayley Reid, sends you her daily blessings and hopes you all make it here alive.

Everyone listening to the broadcast didn’t know how to react.

At Random Small Base A, people were rioting.

Haylight League has gone too far! We already agreed to join them. What would it cost them to come save us for once?

They’re obviously strong. They’ve got so many major bases under them. Saving a tiny base like ours should be easy!

They’ve already secured huge safe zones. What’s wrong with rescuing us and settling us there?

They’re telling us to go on our own. How are we supposed to get there? There are zombies everywhere! Breaking through means people will die!

Haylight League could save us, but they won’t. They keep calling us idiots, and now they’re sending blessings. Bah! That’s disgusting! They just want to watch us die! That trash league deserves to go straight to hell!

At Random Small Base B.

So Haylight League really isn’t going to act. We shouldn’t have hoped in the first place.

This is disappointing. I always thought a strong league would have some dignity and help smaller bases.

Yeah. A powerful league should help weaker bases, especially when we’re willing to join them.

No. We never should’ve put our hopes on others. It’s not like we’re going to perish without Haylight League

I actually think Haylight League isn’t wrong. They didn’t reject us outright. They said if we can fight our way there, they il rake us in. Let’s rely on ourselves and break out

After the message spread, almost every base reacted in one of two ways

One side cursed Haylight League nonstop, while the other began actively preparing to do exactly what Hayley said and break out

on their own.
