Chapter 34,2

Hayley had always hated hiding, let alone squeezing herself into a cabinet

If zombies rushed in, none of them would make it

But the woman had already dragged the childrey deep into the cabinet and pulled the door shut with a therpclick

From inside the cabinet, she stared at Hayley in terror and whispered in a very small voice, “Don’t talk If you talk, you’ll get

caten ”

She held the two children tightly as they hid together in the cabinet.

The kids in her arms were unnaturally quiet. They didn’t make a single sound.

Hayley had no choice but to adjust her position inside the cabinet. The AK in her inventory was ready at any moment if the got caught now, she would have to use firearms.

She couldn’t worry about drawing the attention of nearby zombies anymore.

Her whole body was tense as she curled inside the cabinet. Then, she heard faint shuffling sourds outside the door.

All five of her senses and her mental-variant abilities spread outward at full force. Through her mental perception, she could already sense a large number of zombies gathering outside the room they were in.

“Raarh!”

“Raarh!”

“Raarh!”

Leading them was that mutated zombie.

Then, she heard the sound of the door handle turning on the room’s door.

That mutated zombie could open doors!

A sentient, intelligent zombie?

Click.

The sound of a mechanical lock turning rang out, faint and barely audible. Then, with a slow creak, the door was pushed open from the outside,

The moment the door opened, a thick stench of rotting flesh rushed in.

The first thing to enter was a hand.

After the shriveled hand hit the floor, two zombie heads poked in at the same time.

They looked like an extremely rare conjoined patient who had come to the hospital tot separation surgery, still wearing hospital

gowns.

They were joined at the waist, so each upper body could move independently. The only thing they shared was a pair of legs

Using their arms, they crawled inside and tilted their heads, surveying the room.

Suddenly, there was a loud crash.

The cart they had brought in earlier was smashed flat with a single slap. The stainless steel frame crumpled like cardboard under the mutated zombie’s hand.

with one heavy blow, the cart was crushed and flattered

This was a strength enhanced zombie, at least level three or higher.

After the mutated zombie destroyed the cart, its attention immediately stifted to the cabinet where Hayley and the others were

hiding.

It moved toward the cabinet step by step.

Through the ventilation slats, Hayley saw two twisted, terrifying zombie faces drawing closer and closer.

The mutated zombie stretched out one arm, its long claws scraping toward the stainless steel cabinet door.

Hayley was on full alert. She was so tense that sweat started seeping down her back. Across from her, fhe woman clutched the two children tightly to her chest.

She kept her head lowered.

Then, within Hayley’s amplified mental perception, she suddenly sensed a strange merrtal fluctuation coming from the woman.

It was like an invisible barrier separating them from the outside world.

Just as the zombie’s claws were about to slice open the cabinet door, it suddenly abandoned the target.

The zombie pressed both its heads close to the metal door, sniffing hard. Waves of foul stench poured in.

Hayley watched in disbelief as, after sniffing their cabinet, the mutated zombie turned and headed toward another room.

No way!

Chapter 343

Тар.

Tap.

Tap, tap.

The soft shuffling footsteps gradually faded away. Hayley stayed perfectly still inside the cabinet, as the zombies were still searching room by room. With her mental perception fully extended, she didn’t relax until the horde finally moved beyond her

detection range.

Only then did she let out a small breath.

At the same time, she noticed that the strange mental fluctuations coming from the woman across from her had disappeared.

Hayley finally understood how this woman had managed to survive in the hospital with several children for an entire year.

She was a Gifted, too.

And she had a type of mental-variant gift that hadn’t even been officially recorded yet.

This gift could cause zombies to lose their target.

Just then, after narrowly escaping the zombie wave, the woman opened her eyes and started counting.

“One, two… Ah!” she suddenly screamed. “One of my babies is gone! They got taken!”

“Don’t scream!” Hayley didn’t even have time to calm her down.

The moment the scream rang out, the zombie group that had just left immediately turned back and charged toward them.

Hayley burst out of the cabinet.

The instant she jumped out, a child zombie came sprinting back first.

It was wearing an oversized children’s hospital gown. An IV needle still hung from its right arm, the bottle long empty. A quartei of the bottle was filled with thick black blood that had flowed back in, and the dark red tubing was wrapped around its body.

Its other hand was stuffed in its mouth.

With loud crunching sounds, it gnawed on its own little hand.

“Raarh! Raarh!”

The child zombie opened its mouth excitedly. Fingers dropped all over the floor. Its lett hand was reduced to nothing but bare

hand bones.

It lunged at Hayley in excitement.

Hayley drove her saber straight into its head from the side. The resistance was so strong that even her razor sharp blade stalled

for a moment.

Luckily, Hayley had tremendous strength.

She gripped the hilt with both hands and shoved forward with all her might. The long blade pierced straight through the child zombie’s skull. As she twisted the saber once inside its head and pulled it back out, a crystal core came out with it.

At the same time, she grabbed the woman from the cabinet and took off running.
