Chapter 349
The woman Hayley had dragged along saw her Yather fall to the ground and disappear from sight.
As if something finally clicked for her, she stopped struggling completely and ran quietly behind Hayley, not saying a word.
They fought their way through the zombie horde and finally broke free of its range.
Ahead of them stood a line of men, fully armed and ready.
When Leonard and the others saw Hayley coming back, they rushed forward to cover them, cutting down the remaining
zombies.
Everyone got back into the vehicles.
The moment they climbed in, a thunderous boom echoed behind them.
From the direction of the hospital came a massive explosion. Under a large-scale targeted blast, several hospital buildings collapsed one after another.
The zombies that had been drawn there were all pulled back by the sound, surging toward the hospital.
The pressure on their side instantly disappeared.
The woman stared blankly toward the hospital. She didn’t say a word as silent tears streamed down her face.
“Mom.”
“Mom.”
“Mom.”
“Mom.”
“Mom.”
The rescued little kids gathered around her. They could tell she was crying and tried to comfort her in their own clumsy way.
The woman lowered her head and looked at them. “My dad is gone.”
The children didn’t really understand what that meant. During the most important years of their lives, none of them had ever
had a father.
“What’s wrong?” Griffin looked at Hayley’s heavy expression. “You miss your dad?”
Hayley shot him a glare. “Get lost. I don’t have a dad!”
Griffin’s sharp eyes lit up instantly, “Then how about I be your dad from now on and make up for all that tatherly love you’ve been missing?”
Hayley didn’t reply. She grabbed Griffin’s already broken leg and twisted it hard.
Crack!
“Oww!”
She drove the armored vehicle back to their base.
Hayley was the last one to arrive. The other teams were already back.
In this operation, both Jim’s and Malcolm’s teams suffered losses.
They had all gone deep into the heart of the city. Even though their missions hadn’t been as difficult as Hayley’s, it was still a

major challenge for teams with less overall strength.
One team lost two people. The other lost one.
When everyone saw Hayley come back safely, they all let out a breath of relief.
“Hey, you okay?”
“How’d your team do?”
