A rolling wave of fire–element heat ignited every zombie in its path.
After that, Hayley turned and retreated at full speed.
By the time Danny and the others made it back, she had already returned to their evacuation point as well.
In that moment, Danny was completely stunned.
The person in front of him was a multi–gifted powerhouse.
He knew she was speed–enhanced, and she just unleashed an air shield he had never seen before, with fire- element gifts many times stronger than his own.
Hayley was an absolute top–tier powerhouse he could never hope to touch.
He suddenly remembered the two times he had charged down to seek revenge on her.
It turned out that Hayley had been holding back the entire time. If she had actually wanted him dead, one flick of her hand would’ve been enough. He wouldn’t have stood a chance.
Waves of shock crashed through Danny’s mind.
He stared at the young woman in disbelief.
Monica was just as shaken. She had guessed Hayley was strong, but she never imagined Hayley would be this strong.
And then she remembered what Hayley had told her.
Hayley was the leader of a league spanning 57 bases.
At the time, Monica had found it impossible to believe.
Now, she believed every word. This girl, far younger than her, was stronger by an overwhelming margin.
That meant the league Hayley talked about had to be real, too.
Amid her shock, Monica’s impression of Hayley was completely rewritten. It felt like she had truly met someone extraordinary.
As for everyone else…
“I don’t remember her having fire–element gifts,” Milo muttered. “How is she fire–element now, too?”
“God knows how many gifts she has,” Liam said calmly, already used to being shocked by her.
“Boss, you’re amazing! Another gift unlocked!” Derek shouted excitedly.
“Boss…” Leonard and Thomas said in unison.
“No need to say it. Captain Gorgeous is unbeatable,” Griffin said with a grin. 1
Vroom!
Vroom!
Dozens of vehicles roared to life.
1/2
Buses and armored trucks carried over 180 rescued survivors away from the battlefield. Every single member of Hayley’s base made it out alive.
From Monica’s group, only 35 survived.
Along the way, Monica’s people stayed silent. They were still drowning in the pain of losing so many companions. Many had lost family and friends.
Just as Hayley finally sat down to rest, someone walked up to her.
Danny stopped in front of her. “Hayley Reid.”
“What?” Hayley lifted her head lazily.
“My brother’s death. I’m over it.”
After saying that, Danny returned to Monica’s side.
He knew it clearly now. In strength and in standing, he no longer had the right to seek revenge against Hayley.
Hayley shook her head and chuckled.
