The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 406

Chapter 406

“Boss, I…”

Slash!

A flash of steel cut through the air, and one of the man’s ears was sliced off.

The pain was so intense that the man’s nerves went numb. He clutched his severed ear with his remaining arm and curled up, biting down hard without making a single sound.

Scott looked down at him from above. “Pain can override losing control. Don’t forget that next time.”

“Got it.” The man nodded in terror.

After dealing with him, Scott turned to the man who had been bitten earlier.

That man was holding his ear, his face twisted in agony as he sucked in sharp breathis.

The next second.

Slash!

His head hit the ground.

Scott killed him.

“Remember this. No matter when, no matter what happens, you are not allowed to scream.”

Scott completely ignored the head on the ground, eyes still open and staring at him, as he swept his gaze across the crowd.

After warning everyone once, he said, “Bury him.”

Then, he strode away.

No one at the scene spoke.

But it was obvious that everyone was trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing this, Hayley said quietly to Griffin beside her, “Feeling lucky now that your boss is someone like me?”

“Yeah. I’ve already used up all the luck in my life just to meet you.”

Hayley paused.

She listened to that greasy line, turned to look at Griffin’s sincere gaze, and punched him in the stomach

Would it kill him to be even a little more honest with her?

“Sorry to interrupt your meal,” Scott said as he returned.

Hayley glanced behind him. Everything there had already been restored to how it was betore

But she really couldn’t stomach the ribs anymore

She picked at the side dishes and pushed all the ribs over to Griffin

When Scott saw this, his smile never faded. He chatted with Hayley casually, one sentence here and there

Hayley stayed highly guarded, responding only with trivial, harmless remarks.

Before long, dinner ended, and everyone gradually settled down to rest. The firefight went out, leaving the wetlands park bathed only in bright moonlight.

It was a clear night with a full moon.

The moonlight was so bright that Hayley could clearly see the beautiful wetlands around them.

They seemed to be deep inside the park, with no signs of human development. The forest remained lush and dense.

She and Griffin slept among the group, with sentries posted along the outer perimeter.

People gathered in small clusters, like animals, huddling together into resting groups and leaning on each other for warmth and

safety.

There were also a few lone wolves, clutching their weapons and sleeping against tree trunks by themselves.

Scott was very close to her, separated by only two people, yet still maintaining an empty space around himself where no one slept nearby.
