Chapter 409
After slapping Griffin away, Hayley lay back in her sleeping bag and went to sleep
Of course, she hadn’t believed a word Scott said.
That kind of story might fool ordinary people, but there was no way it would fool her.
Not to mention, as someone who had lived a second life, Hayley already knew Scott inside and out. Any act he put on in front of her was completely pointless.
Even without that, based on Hayley’s grasp of the situation, she would never help him.
She had seen just how ruthless Scott’s people were. Letting a pack of wolves like that loose would cause trouble the moment they slipped out of control.
And clearly, she couldn’t control them.
Scott was an ambitious man. He had forged his base into a pack of predators under ironclad rule. Once released into the outside human settlements, he would inevitably seek even greater power.
How could she let a tiger like that out?
No matter how eloquent Scott sounded, his people all had to stay right here.
In the face of a shared disaster like zombies, humans should help each other. But that only worked if the ones you helped didn’t turn around and bite you.
As for Scott’s group, Hayley already had an entirely new plan for them.
The next day, the helicopter came again.
“Boss!”
The moment Leonard landed, he rushed straight to Hayley.
“Thanks for the hard work, Leonard.”
“Boss, are you okay?”
“Never better,” Hayley said, patting Leonard on the shoulder and silently mouthing two words at him.
“No power.”
Leonard frowned as he read her lips.
Hayley repeated it, silently. “No power.”
Just then, Scott walked over. “Can you make a few more trips today?”
“Of course, we have to make mors trips!” Hayley said firmly, looking straight at him “I said I’d get all of you out, and I mean if Leonard, you’re going to have to work a bit harder today and fly a few extra runs.
As soon as Hayley finished speaking, Leonard immediately said, “Boss, we can’t the helicopter’s out of power
When Hayley heard this, deep satisfaction flashed across her eyes
Attaboy, Leonard!
This smart guy was truly a treasure who never dropped the ball
The satisfaction on her face quickly turned into displeasure “How could it be out of power? Is there no electricity out here?”

Quick on the uptake, Leonard replied, “Where would the power come from out here? Captain Reynolds’s electricity is only enough for their radio. We have to fly back to Aecraton to recharge.”
“Wait. Your helicopter doesn’t use fuel? It runs on electricity?” Scott asked.
“Yeah. It’s an alternative-energy helicopter. Electric powered. New tech,” Hayley said helplessly. “We thought new tech would be more convenient. Turns out it’s worse than the old stuff.”
She turned to Leonard, ordering, “Head back and recharge as fast as you can. Try to make two trips a day.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Leonard replied.
After hearing this, Scott said nothing more.
