The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 455

Chapter 455

Hayley understood immediately.

When the zombie outbreak first began, the government issued nationwide broadcasts telling everyone to w

rescue.

That rescue was supposed to come from the three Ark bases.

When the authorities collapsed, the rescue never came. The Ark bases became kingdoms unto themselves.

Samuel’s expression grew darker as he continued.

“The Eastern Division waited a long time. All three Ark bases went silent. None of them arranged any rescue

relocation for us.

“In the end, I couldn’t wait any longer. That’s why I built Base K1 here in the Eastern region and organized ou own rescue effort.

“They only sent helicopters to extract people they personally wanted.

“As of now, across the entire country, aside from the three Ark bases and our Haylight League, every other re has turned into a sea of red.

“There isn’t a single place like yours, where someone can lead everyone and carve out a true safe zone.

“Holly, you really are remarkable.”

Samuel said this with absolute seriousness.

“That’s obvious! Holly’s been amazing since she was little,” Ruby said proudly from the side.

“Yes, yes, you’re right! Both of you are incredible.” Samuel laughed along.

Hayley listened to the mutual praise and then asked calmly, “So, what’s the situation with those three Ark bases now? How many people do they have? How large are they?”

Samuel turned to her.

“They’re bigger than Haylight League. They have more supplies and more manpower, but their evolution serum is nowhere near as good as ours.’

“You can contact them?”

Samuel nodded.

“We have a dedicated communication channel.”

“Have you told them about Haylight League?”

“No,” Samuel answered firmly “I haven’t mentioned you at all. Not a single word. They only know the Eastern region is chaotic, and that the largest base here is Base KI. Ark One even invited me before. They said they’d allow Liam and me to enter and would send a helicopter to pick us up.”

“We’re not going,” Liam said quietly from the side. “Not in the past, and not now.”

Hayley smiled faintly when she heard that

People really were different.

Even after the authorities fell, Liam and Samuel still chose to protect civilians.

Meanwhile, the three survivor bases, once built with the nation’s full backing, had already changed their loya

Liam and Samuel would never abandon the people and land they had once sworn to protect.

“Sam,” Hayley said, her tone firm, “keep in contact with them. Gather as much information as you can about their movements. But everything on our side must stay confidential. They can’t find out that Haylight League already exists.”

“I understand,” Samuel replied, smiling as he looked at her with deep approval.

He felt truly lucky to have a granddaughter like her.

He liked Hayley far too much.

So much so that he even felt his own grandson wasn’t worthy of her.

He felt that Liam probably didn’t have what it took to make her his wife. Which meant Samuel would have to re on himself instead.

The moment Ruby arrived today, Samuel’s thoughts had started racing.

He dragged Ruby along and insisted on officially adopting her as his daughter.
