The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 456

Chapter 456

The Hearthfall dinner finally came to an end.

Ruby and Samuel drank happily well into the night, and Ruby decided to stay over at the Caldwells’ place.

Hayley couldn’t refuse her one and only aunt, so she stayed as well.

Everyone else left full and satisfied, but Hayley’s mind stayed restless. She kept thinking about the three Ark bases.

All three Ark bases were stronger than her.

That wouldn’t do.

She had to accelerate construction and expansion.

At the very least, before those Ark bases noticed her, she needed to grow into a power they could only look up

“What are you thinking about?” Liam asked as he walked over to Hayley, who was munching on snacks.

“My stuff.”

Liam paused. “Your stuff?”

Hayley looked up and grinned at him, showing two harmless, friendly little canine teeth.

“Those three Ark bases. They’re all gonna be mine!”

Liam paused, not sure what to feel.

Hayley slept soundly that night.

Early the next morning, she woke up like she had been injected with pure adrenaline and stormed straight into

her office.

She urged the mining teams to speed up extraction. Then, she pushed the upstream and downstream factories tc increase output. After that, she personally went to the defensive wall to check construction progress.

When she finished at the factories, she went to the farms. After the farms, she went to the school to see whether the kids were paying attention in class.

Every level needed encouragement and pressure.

The results spoke for themselves.

The moment Hayley showed up, everyone’s motivation shot through the roof.

“Work hard!” she shouted. “Do a good job, and you’ll get bonuses!”

“Okay!”

With rewards on the line, everyone worked overtime like perfectly tuned machines.

Hayley was very satisfied. She immediately dragged Alex out and ordered him to write ten more development

reports.

She wanted Haylight League to advance even faster.

“What are you rushing for?” Alex complained. “No one’s pressuring you. The zombie situation outside is sti under control.”

“Get moving!” Hayley kicked him straight into his office.

Alex had no choice but to follow orders.

Even after setting everything in motion, Hayley didn’t relax.

After all, competition worked both ways.

She now knew the Ark bases existed. One day, those Ark bases would find out that a massive league had risen the Eastern region without any official backing.

Hayley didn’t believe for a second that the three of them were friendly, or that they would reach out to cooper develop together, and fight the zombies side by side.

If even one of them had thought that way, there wouldn’t have been zero rescue efforts at the very beginning. Those three weren’t humanity’s last hope; they were three predators dividing the world during the apocalypse

Once Hayley knew they existed, only two outcomes remained.

Either she devoured them, or they devoured her.
