Chapter 464
Liam entered the long string of access codes Constant had given him.
Ding! [S-level clearance verified.]
The massive door that even Ark One’s residents couldn’t access slid open.
It was obvious that after the outbreak, Ark One had revoked all civilian permissions. No ordinary resident was allowed in or out of the bunker.
When the Ark One group saw the bunker open, relief flickered across their faces. Watching Hayley and the others head inside, they followed without hesitation.
This was open ground. There was nowhere to hide except the bunker. If zombies showed up outside, what were they supposed to do?
Anyone with half a brain would follow them in.
“You’re all coming with us?” Hayley asked.
“This is our home,” Penelope snapped back. “We’re going home. What’s it to you?”
She was already annoyed that Hayley was the only other woman in the group. That alone rubbed her the wrong way. If Liam had been the one asking that question, she wouldn’t have dared speak like that.
Hayley didn’t get angry. She smiled, walked right up to the girl, and looked at her. “You’re going home, huh?”
“Duh! This is our base. My going home isn’t any of your business,” Penelope said, her spoiled temper flaring.
The next second…
Smack!
Hayley slapped Penelope hard, sending her flying backward, then calmly tapped the panel. The door shut with a beep.
“Alright,” Hayley said casually. “Go on. Head home whenever you like.”
She dusted off her hands.
Finally. That felt good!
Outside the bunker, Penelope stood frozen, completely stunned. She covered her face, staring at the sealed door in disbelief.
What the hell just happened?
Had that woman actually locked her out?
No way
No way, no way, no way!
She rushed forward and started pounding on the door.
She didn’t have the access code How was she supposed to get in? Her ID card didn’t even register!
Hayley, clearly satisfied, turned back to the others. “You can follow us if you want Just know this: If you mess

with us, this is the least worst outcome.”
The entire group went dead silent.
That was the least worst?
Everyone nodded frantically.
“And one more thing,” Hayley continued. “Your lives aren’t our responsibility. Your boss didn’t pay us to save you. Whether you live or die is on you.”
They nodded even harder, looking like little bobble heads. Every single one of them looked at Hayley and her team with awe.
Who would dare offend people like this?
Hayley didn’t even hesitate to slap Penelope and lock her outside. Who would want to test a boss with a temper like that?
Everyone straightened up instantly.
In the crowd, Gideon stared at the scene with wide eyes, excitement burning in them.
After establishing dominance, Hayley couldn’t be bothered with the rest. She turned to Liam.
“Let’s move.”
Liam nodded and led the team deeper into the bunker.
Behind them, Penelope pounded on the door even harder.
“Open up! Hurry! There are zombies out here!”
The Ark One group exchanged uneasy looks.
“What do we do about Penelope? There really are zombies outside. We should let her in.”
