Chapter 481
The bullet cut a straight line through the air.
In Constant’s pupils, the warhead expanded endlessly.
Adrenaline surged through his body, and his heart slammed violently in his chest.
For the first time in his life, he felt death breathing down his neck. Uncontrollable terror wiped his mind completely blank.
Just as the bullet was about to punch through his skull, a powerful wave of mental energy burst from behind hi
It knocked the bullet off course by an inch.
Bang!
The round skimmed past his scalp.
The extreme heat instantly seared a straight burn across the top of his head. By the time the bullet passed him, i warm liquid was already leaking between his legs.
“Professor Stone.”
A cold voice sounded behind him.
Constant’s blank mind finally snapped back. His neck stiffened as he turned around, spotting the young man approaching.
“Commander Delgado!” he shouted.
Hayley, still holding her gun, narrowed her eyes.
With every step the man took forward, a crushing wave of mental pressure/rolled toward them.
Up to now, outside of the Haylight League, the strongest Gifted Hayley had encountered was Scott.
And this young man’s power was no weaker than Scott’s.
His mental-variant gift spread outward, probing everyone present.
Hayley’s gaze turned icy. Her own mental energy surged outward in response, overwhelming and absolute.
They were strong, sure. But compared to her, they were nowhere close.
Boom!
An invisible shockwave exploded in midair
Like a crashing tide, it scattered everything
The young man stopped mid step. He lifted his head and stared at Hayley in disbeliet
“Who are you?” he asked, clearly stunned.
“She’s my sister,” Liam said as he stepped up beside Hayley. “I’m Liam Caldwell.”
The young, man’s eyes shifted to Liam After holding his gaze for a moment, he looked back at Hayley.
“You were about to kill one of our base’s managers,” he said coldly.

“Are you as blind as that half-dead old man?” Hayley shot back. “Can’t you see we were clearing zombies? If he runs into gunfire and gets himself killed, is that on me?”
Nathaniel Delgado froze. For a second, he genuinely didn’t know how to respond.
“W-What…” Constant finally recovered enough to speak. The fear on his pale face twisted into rage. “That was stray gunfire?”
“Pull yourself together, old man,” Hayley snapped, stepping in and slapping him. “What, are you blind and deaf- now? Of course, it was stray fire! Guns were going off everywhere, and you still ran straight out here. And now you wanna pin it on me? If you’re that useless, you might as well go dig yourself a grave and lie down in it!”
Constant stood there, completely dumbfounded.
Everyone else around them was equally stunned.
“Ugh!”
After surviving the edge of death, only to be humiliated like this, Constant suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Researchers nearby rushed forward to support him.
“Don’t touch him!” Hayley barked again. “That old fool lives to blame everyone else. Whoever helps him next is the one he’ll turn on. Any of you want to take that risk?”
