Chapter 482
Hayley really knew how to push someone over the edge. “All of you stay away from him. That old guy spat out sc much blood, he’s probably about to mutate.”
“Ugh!”
After coughing up another mouthful of blood, Constant finally passed out completely.
Even knocking him unconscious didn’t make Hayley feel any better. Not killing that old bastard outright really annoyed her.
Just then, she felt someone watching her.
She turned her head and saw the young man who had stepped in to save Constant staring at her with clear interest.
“What are you staring at?” she snapped. “Never seen a pretty girl?”
Nathaniel froze.
“You’re the one in charge here, right?” Hayley took a deep breath and walked up to him.
“Yes,” he said. “I am. I’m the Level Five manager. Nathaniel Delgado.”
“Alright, Nathaniel,” Hayley said bluntly. “Crystal cores. Food. Hand them over. Short us even one unit, and you’ll be sorry.”
Any rescue mission had to be planned with the worst outcome in mind.
Either the rescue failed and their people died, or the rescue succeeded and the so–called allies turned on them.
Hayley had come fully prepared.
Her people were still back at headquarters. If contact was lost, they would launch an attack immediately. On top of that, explosives had already been planted in all five helicopters above the bunker.
No payment, no mercy. They would blow the place apart.
She wasn’t here to be threatened.
After a long pause, Nathaniel said, “I’ll pay.”
He wasn’t stupid.
Unless things reached a point of no return, no one would dare default on a deal like this. The risk was too high.
Even if Ark One had deep reserves and real power, people with nothing left weren’t afraid of people with everything.
Anger a group like Base K1, and they would strike back.
Ark One couldn’t exactly pack up its bunker and leave.
Mutual destruction helped no one.
It was like a nuclear war. Without absolute certainty of total victory, no one would make the first move.
Constant had already tried to outplay Hayley once, and she nearly killed him for it.

That round was settled. Now, the payment had to be made.
Nathaniel had plenty of resources. There was no reason to gamble.
Not long after, his people delivered the supplies.
Twenty bags of crystal cores, ten thousand cores per bag. Four million bags of grain, each weighing a hundred pounds.
“That’s a lot,” Nathaniel said. “Do you need my people to help transport it?”
“Nope,” Hayley replied.
She grabbed Griffin and swept all the supplies into her inventory in one motion.
Nathaniel’s eyes lit up again.
That inventory was enormous.
Just how strong were these people? Could the outside world really produce Gifted like this?
Nathaniel studied Hayley and her group, his expression growing serious.
Once Hayley finished collecting everything, she said, “Let’s go.”
