The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 505

Chapter 505

Woof, woof, woof!

The dogs suddenly bolted.

Griffin felt the leashes jerk and panicked.

Hey, where do you think you’re going? Get back here!

He yanked his pants up and sprinted out after them.

Watching the dogs was his job. Hayley had given the order. No screwing it up.

Surrounded by the dogs, Hayley looked up and saw Griffin burst out of the restroom, still tugging at his waistband. Panic was written all over his face.

The second he saw Hayley, his expression flipped into a grin. Captain Gorgeous, you’re back.

Go finish up,Hayley said, calmly gathering the leashes into her hand. I’ve got them.

Griffin tugged at his pants again. Nah, I’m done.1

Still smiling, he walked over to the sink and started washing his hands.

At that moment, a man in an Ark Two staff uniform rushed to the next sink and began scrubbing frantically. Water roared from the faucet, soaking his sleeves. He kept washing, as if he was trying to erase something.

The smell of blood hit Griffin. He turned his head.

The man beside Griffin was pale as chalk, hands shaking as he rinsed his sleeve. He rolled the fabric up, and a deep bite mark showed on his forearm. The teeth marks sunk so deep you could see bone.

Under the running water, blood kept pouring out, brighter and thicker by the second. The metallic smell filled the air. Dark veins began crawling across his arm.

Griffin frowned.

Something was wrong.

Griffin slowly lifted his headand locked eyes with the man.

The man was staring at him, hard. His eyes were turning cloudy, the black fading into a sickly gray. His face twisted in pain.

Hell!Griffin shouted. You’re turning into a zombie?

The words seemed to snap something inside the man.

A flicker of awareness returned, and a desperate will to survive filled his dull, clouded eyes. He clutched his wounded arm and bolted for the door.

Woof, woof, woof!

“Woof, woof, woof!

Woof, woof, woof!

The dogs outside went berserk.

The moment he burst through the door, he slammed Hayley back against the wall without thinking.

Woof, woof, woof!

Woof, woof, woof!

Woof, woof, woof!

Summer and the others launched themselves at the infected man, tackling him to the ground.

You okay?Griffin asked urgently.

I’m fine,Hayley said, shoving him aside.

She looked at the man pinned to the floor. Summer’s paw was pressed hard against his chest.

She recognized him. He was the staff member who had been bitten earlier by the young server.

Now he was curled up, clutching his arm, writhing in agony. His face was turning whiter by the second. Black veins spread across his skin.
