Chapter 504
Hayley walked out of the auction hall. She went to where she had left her dogs, only to find that Griffin and the dogs were gone.
“Where are my dogs?” she asked.
“They’ve gone to use the restroom,” an Ark Two attendant said politely, pointing down the corridor.
Hayley headed off alone in that direction.
The opera house was massive. Her boots sank into thick, plush carpet, soft enough that it felt like walking on clouds.
As she went deeper, a sudden commotion broke out ahead. She quickened her pace and reached the backstage area behind the auction hall.
Several staff members were struggling to restrain a girl whose entire body was bound, her face covered in blood. The girl was shockingly strong. She twisted hard, shaking off the man pressing down on her shoulder.
Just as she was about to break free, another attendant rushed in and wrapped his arms around her.
The girl snapped her head forward and bit down hard on his arm. Blood streamed from the torn flesh on her face, soaking his sleeve in seconds.
“Ahh!”
The attendant screamed and jerked away, shaking his arm violently. No one could tell if the bite had broken skin.
The others snapped back to attention and piled on, forcing the girl down again.
Hayley recognized the girl. It was the unlucky server from earlier.
Her eyes were still black, not hollow like they had been on the stage. Now, they were sharp and alive. Her body was full of strength, enough that it took several grown men to hold her down.
Once restrained, they shoved her into a metal cage, slammed it shut, and locked it before hauling it away.
“Where are you taking her?” Hayley asked.
Seeing the green mask on her face, the staff immediately straightened. “She’s being taken to the inner zone manager’s research lab.”
“Oh?” Hayley said calmly. “I thought you said she was normal now. Why send her to a lab?”
The staff member lowered his head, fear plain in his posture. “We only follow orders. We don’t know anything else.”
Hayley studied them for a moment. “Can I take a look at her first?”
At that moment, a man wearing a yellow mask stepped forward.
“Hello, honored guest from Ark One,” he said warmly. “Are you interested in this test subject?”
“Yes,” Hayley replied. “I want to see her.”
“I’d love to give her to you,” the man said smoothly, “but she’s unstable right now. Once she calms down, I’ll personally bring her to you. How does that sound?”

He was polite and friendly. With that tone, pushing further would look unreasonable.
“Alright,” Hayley said.
“By the way,” the yellow masked man added, “why aren’t you in the auction hall?”
“It was boring,” Hayley said flatly. “I’m looking for my dogs.”
“Oh, haha,” he laughed immediately. “Our apologies for the poor hospitality. Would you like me to show you around the base?”
“No,” Hayley said, already walking away. “I’m finding my dogs.”
After she left, the man’s smile faded.
His eyes turned cold as he looked at his subordinates. “Why are you still standing there? Get her out of here!”
They hurriedly pushed the cage away.
“Woof, woof, woof!”
“I’m here, big guy.”
Voices echoed from inside the restroom.
Sixteen dogs sat neatly in a row on the floor, all staring at the door of a single stall.
Ten seconds passed.
