Chapter 515
Constant was even worse, so he barely deserved mentioning.
Nathaniel wasn’t much better. That jerk was cold, ruthless, and soaked through with elite arrogance.
Out of all of them, only Ruth stood apart.
She was just a worker with no real choices. As Ark Two’s middle zone manager, her job was to serve those people, keep them safe, and solve every problem they threw at her.
Even at the auction, when she ordered that the young server be pushed toward the zombie, it wasn’t because she wanted to.
It was work.
If she didn’t do it, she would be the one thrown in. She was nothing like those people standing at the top.
In this world, only a tiny handful got to choose how they lived. Everyone else just struggled to survive.
Hayley pulled a blanket from the scattered supplies and gently covered Ruth’s body.
Then she grabbed Griffin, who had been lingering behind, watching everything unfold. Together, they collected all the supplies Ruth had dropped.
No one said a word. No one had the energy to care.
After injecting the inhibitor, Trevor twitched a few times, then passed out cold. His people rushed around him in panic.
Nathaniel picked up the internal phone and contacted the outside. Once the call went through, the elevator at the corner of the room began descending.
Rescue teams were on the way.
By the time Hayley finished gathering the supplies, the elevator had arrived.
Ark Three rushed the unconscious Trevor inside first.
The elevator was limited in space.
With 16 dogs, Hayley waited for the next one.
By the time she reached the surface again, Ark Three had already boarded a helicopter and left.
Nathaniel was still talking with Ark Two.
Their outer zone manager, inner zone manager, and base director had all come out. They surrounded Nathaniel, apologizing nonstop.
After all, their guests had nearly died in their base, and Ark Three’s director had even been injured by a zombie.
This wasn’t something they could brush aside.
Hayley glanced at Nathaniel. “I’m going to walk around.”
He looked at her briefly. “Keep the mask on. Go.”
“Got it.”

Half an hour later, at Ark Two’s outer zone.
Ark Two ran on a strict hierarchy.
Ordinary people without abilities lived in the outer zone. The Gifted and guards stayed in the middle zone.
The leadership and elites lived deep inside.
