Chapter 520
The little boy’s shout alerted those around him.
The men scrubbing the walls heard him and hurried over.
One look inside the bag, and everyone froze.
Inside were whole roast chickens, steaks, racks of ribs, shrimp…
Most of it hadn’t even been touched. Only a couple of chicken legs and pieces of meat had bite marks on them.
Everyone stood there, staring at the overflowing bag, stunned.
Was this real? Food like this, just thrown away? Barely eaten, dumped straight down like trash?
After a long time, someone finally looked up at the pitch–black opening above them.
“Split it.”
“Yeah. Everyone take some.”
“We’ll eat back in our rooms.”
Hands moved fast. The bag was divided in seconds.
At the very top level of Ark Three, a crowd packed into a lavish bedroom.
A man lay on the bed, retching violently. The food he had barely eaten came back up, mixed with bile and dark blood. He gagged until it felt like he was throwing up his insides.
When the blood surged up and covered his nose, his eyes went wide. His legs jerked once.
Then, he went still.
“Mr. Clayton?”
“Mr. Clayton…?”
“He’s dead!”
“Ark Three’s base director is dead.”
By the time Hayley heard the news, it was already noon.
The man who had paid a fortune for the inhibitor and injected himself at the auction had lasted two weeks.
And then he died.
Hayley had been waiting for updates, wondering why there hadn’t been a massive outbreak yet. Then, the news hit.
“He just died? He didn’t turn?” she asked.
“Yeah. He died outright,” Liam said. “He used the inhibitor, right? So he shouldn’t turn.”
He remembered hearing about that super expensive zombie virus inhibitor.

After Hayley got back, everyone knew how wild that trip had been. No one expected something that dangerous to happen at an auction that was supposed to be safe.
Thinking about it afterward still made people uneasy.
If it hadn’t been Hayley, and if she hadn’t brought those dogs, it would’ve gone bad fast.
Trevor Clayton, Ark Three’s director, got infected. Meanwhile, Nathaniel was the sole survivor from his base.
