The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 580

Chapter 580

Smack!

Hayley’s hand cracked across Trina’s face and sent her sideways.

“Nobody wants to protect you, you little brat!”

Trina’s cheek swelled instantly. Tears flooded her eyes; she glared at Hayley as if Hayley had just been betr the universe.

“How dare you hit me! No one’s ever hit me! Who do you think you are!”

Smack!

Another slap.

This one wasn’t Hayley.

Sydney pushed herself off the floor, legs still shaking from the run, and slapped Trina hard.

“That was me! Remember that I did that!”

Smack!

She hit Trina again.

Trina had shoved her toward a zombie twice today. She had almost died twice.

Yeah. She earned that one.

“You all hit me! You’re all hitting me!” Trina burst into tears, looking around for backup.

Her eyes found Ryker.

He was on his feet, walking toward her.

For a split second, hope flickered in her face.

“Byker…”

Smack!

He hit her, too.

Trina froze. She stared at him, stunned.

The look in his eyes was ice cold. That was when it hit her. He wasn’t her loyal dog anymore.

She let out a sharp, broken wail. “Mr. Ortega! Mr. Ortega! Are you just gonna let them bully me?”

Marvin looked at her. “Shut up!”

It was the first time he had ever raised his voice at a student.

The crying cut off mid-breath.

Trina looked at him, then at the others.

Marvin. Ryker. Sydney. And Hayley.

Chapter 580

Every single one of them had turned on her.

She lowered her head, clutching her shirt in both fists. The resentment in her eyes burned hot and quiet.

“What do we do now?” Marvin asked.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The zombies outside were hammering at the door and windows. They wouldn’t hold long.

“Griffin, bring the car.”

Hayley rolled her neck, eyes fixed on the wandering zombies outside and the long distance ahead

They were on the first floor.

“Got it, Captain Gorgeous!”

Griffin popped open the window, set the pressure cooker down inside, then climbed out and sprinted towa where they had parked.

He ran fast.

Hayley turned back to the others.

“Until my guy gets back, you’d better hold this place. If those things break in, I’m leaving. I won’t drag you v me.”

She said it flat.

No drama, just facts.

Truth was, she was already giving them a chance.

She could’ve left with Griffin.

If she walked out now, she would have to take them with her.

But they could barely stand. They would die in seconds out there.

She wasn’t heartless. But she wasn’t stupid either. As long as she stayed alive, they had a shot, t00

Her words seemed to put something back into them.
