Chapter 598

Everyone in Nathaniel’s group turned to look at him.

Nathaniel, meanwhile, kept his eyes fixed on Hayley.

“What’s wrong? You guys don’t want to?” Hayley said casually. “Didn’t you come to visit me? Who shows up to hang out carrying weapons? That wouldn’t be polite, right?”

Nathaniel stayed silent for a moment, then lifted his hand.

One by one, his people surrendered their weapons. They handed over their communicators as well.

“The comms stay with us!” Constant protested.

Hayley glanced at him lazily. “Constant, right?”

He paused before replying, “Yes.”

He had recovered well recently, and he looked well-fed and healthy again.

Hayley smiled faintly. “You’re still alive, huh? I thought you kicked the bucket already.”

Constant froze, completely at a loss for words.

“You’re guests,” Hayley continued calmly. “Relax, I won’t treat you badly. Taking the comms is just so you don’t have to carry extra weight. If you need to contact your base, come through me. It’s the same thing. Right, Nate?”

Nathaniel met her gaze for a long time before finally saying, “Hand them over.”

The communicators followed the weapons into Hayley’s people’s hands.

Now, they stood there with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Of course, everyone present was Gifted.

But against Hayley, gifts didn’t mean much anymore.

Hayley looked at the now fully disarmed group and smiled. “You’re all guests. Stay here for a while. I’ll make sure you’re well taken care of.”

“Alright,” Nathaniel agreed without hesitation.

Hayley let Milo supervise the examination and personally escorted Nathaniel’s group back.

Along the way, she quietly considered how to handle them.

Nathaniel had shown up unexpectedly and exposed the existence of her massive league.

Letting him leave immediately wasn’t an option, but killing him outright would alert Ark One. Once they mobilized, war would be unavoidable.

Hayley knew exposure was inevitable someday.

A city this large couldn’t stay hidden forever. If any of the three major bases came to investigate, her entire operation would be revealed.

She just hadn’t expected it to happen this soon, at least not before the three bases finished tearing each other apart.

So what now?

While Hayley weighed her options, Nathaniel’s group grew more stunned with every mile they traveled inward. They passed vast farmland stretching toward the horizon. Fully automated agricultural machines worked the fields, not a single laborer in sight.

They saw rows upon rows of greenhouses producing off-season fruits and vegetables.

One glance told them the output here surpassed the combined production of all three Ark bases several times over

Food wasn’t scarce here. Not even close.

As they moved deeper into the city, the shock only intensified.

Hayley hadn’t just built a settlement. She had reclaimed an entire city.

Inside the walls, there wasn’t a single zombie.

A violent wave of disbelief swept through Constant and the others.

The outside world had changed this much, and they had known nothing about it.

“This is your base?” Nathaniel finally asked.

“Yeah,” Hayley replied casually.

“You never mentioned it.” His tone carried something complicated beneath it.
