“The next day, Theo and Larry’s girlfriends came looking for Jasmine and beat her up. If Warren hadn’t stepped in to protect her, we would’ve thrown her out of here a long time ago.”
Ellen Alvarez’s face twisted with jealousy as she spoke, her expression growing more animated by the second.
“She just thinks she’s special because she’s pretty. Those guys must be blind. Someone like me, they don’t even look at twice. But they’re all chasing after Jasmine, that quiet little tramp. If I had a face like hers…”
Just then, a rough male voice echoed from outside.
“Ellen! What are you doing in there?”
Ellen froze mid-sentence. She looked at Hayley quickly. “I’ll tell you more next time. Give me that bar.”
Hayley tossed her the chocolate bar.
Clutching the five chocolate bars she had collected, Ellen hurried toward the door.
But the moment she stepped out, a man outside blocked her path.
Hayley heard the arguing first. Then, suddenly, Ellen was yanked off balance and flipped backward, her legs lifted as the chocolate bars hidden on her fell and scattered across the floor.
“Those are mine!” Ellen shouted desperately, scrambling to grab them.
“In this place, nothing belongs to just you,” Theo Parham snapped.
He slapped her aside, scooped up the five chocolate bars from the floor, and turned to leave.
Ellen lunged forward and wrapped both arms around his leg. “Give them back! I’ll do whatever you want. Come to my room tonight. Just give them back…”
“You think you’re Jasmine or something?” Theo kicked her off. “Keep dreaming.”
He and the others headed upstairs with their stolen prize. On the way, he called down to two more men.
“Donnie, Charlie, watch this place. Don’t let her wander in again.”
With everything taken from her, Ellen sat on the stairs, clutching her stomach. People passed by, glancing at her as they went up and down, but no one stopped.
No one cared.
Only one woman approached her.
“Can you stand?” she asked softly.
Ellen looked up.
It was Jasmine
As Jasmine reached down to help her, a flash of hatred surged through Ellen’s eyes. She grabbed Jasmine’s arm, at accepting the help, then shoved Jastiine hard down the staircas

Donnie and Clare Webster rushed down from the doorway to help her sp

“She lost her balance. What’s that got to do with me?” Ellen said coldly, brushing dust from her clothes.
She looked at Jasmine, who had clearly taken a painful fall. A faint look of satisfaction finally crossed her face.
She glanced upstairs, then back toward the room, where Hayley still stood by the window. While Donnie and Charlie were busy helping Jasmine, she suddenly ran back inside.
“I’ll tell you a few more things,’ she said, holding out her hand to Hayley. “Give me another one.”
Hayley looked at her lazily. “I’m not interested anymore.
Ellen frowned immediately, her voice sharp with irritation. “You’re so unreasonable!”
