Chapter 709
After the sudden burst of light, a long, brightly lit corridor stretched out in front of them. Rooms lined both sides.
“Sir, what are we here to do?” someone in the group asked.
The man in the white coat turned to him. “Your number?”
“Seventy-nine hundred.”
The moment he answered, the man waved a hand. “Remove his number. Take him away.”
Several people stepped forward immediately, tore off his wristband, and dragged him out. He tried to speak, but a guard stunned him with a shock baton before he could get a word out.
Everyone stiffened.
The man in the white coat looked over them, his voice flat and cold.
“From now on, no one speaks unless I allow it. You do exactly what you’re told. If you don’t, that’s what happens.”
Each word landed heavily. No one dared make a sound.
“You’ll be assigned rooms by number. Ten people per room. Meals will be delivered three times a day. You are not to leave your rooms. Wait for instructions.”
With that, he turned and left.
The guards, each holding a baton, watched closely as the group moved. Still shaken, everyone followed the rules without hesitation, filing into rooms in groups of ten based on their numbers.
Hayley’s group went last. One person had already been taken away, so their room only had nine.
She lingered in the hallway for a moment, taking everything in, including the layout, the cameras, and the uniforms. Every detail was locked into memory.
Only when the guards started moving closer did she step inside.
This place wasn’t simple. Cameras were everywhere, hidden but obvious if you knew what to look for. Even inside the rooms.
Five sets of bunk beds lined the walls. A small bathroom sat in the corner. Above them, a speaker hung overhead, probably for orders.
The moment Hayley stepped in, the others had already started talking.
“Hey, we’re all stuck in here together. Might as well stick together, too, someone said. “This place feels off. If anything happens, we share info.”

That’s exactly what I was thinking another guy said. Name’s Gantick Crawford I’m a strength
enhanced Gifted”
At the mention of that, people turned to look
Tm Barnaby Perkins Same, strength-enhanced,” the first guy added
Tm Tyler Heath Speed-enhanced another chimed in.
Tm Eric Dawson. I’m not a Gifted, but my sister, Jocelyn, has mental type abilities”
That got everyone’s attention
They all looked toward the young woman beside him. She seemed to be in her twenties, carrying herself with a bit of distance, like she didn’t feel the need to engage
She barely glanced at the others before picking the best lower bunk and lying down.
There were nine of them in total. Two were a couple, Emerson and Willow Cox. One was speed- enhanced, the other strength-enhanced.
Most of them had gifts, but none of them seemed particularly strong. They never had real training and probably had no clear sense of how to grow them.
