Chapter 728

The moment they stepped inside, the other side got straight to it.

“How large is Haylight League?”

Alex didn’t even blink. “We showed up in a warship. You can imagine the scale.”

The man paused, then tried again. “How many people do you have?”

“More than you,” Alex replied smoothly.

“And your living conditions? Supporting that many people… Are supplies tight?”

“In this world, everyone’s short on something,” Alex said, “but we manage.”

Hayley sat beside him, quietly impressed.

Every question they asked was about numbers and scale, but Alex’s replies gave away nothing. Before they had a clear read on the other side, Alex didn’t let a single word slip. Everything he said was tight, leaving no openings.

Hayley was glad she had brought him.

There weren’t many people who could get the better of Alex. He had too many angles in his head.

After a few rounds of back and forth, the man in the white coat couldn’t get anything useful out of him and finally said, “Mr. Kirk, we’re serious about working with you. We’d like you to show us your capabilities.”

Hearing that, Hayley tugged at Alex’s sleeve and leaned in to whisper a few words.

A spark lit in Alex’s otherwise cold eyes. He stood up and looked straight at them.

“We’re here to work with you, too. Otherwise, who crosses the ocean in the middle of an apocalypse to talk business with strangers? That alone shows we came with real intent. The question is, are you actually serious?”

The man in the white coat frowned. “Of course we are.”

Alex slammed his hand down on the table with a loud bang. “Then where’s your leadership? You call this

a negotiation, but your boss sent you to deal with us? That’s your idea of sincerity?”

The impact echoed through the room.

Under the pressure of Alex’s presence, the man in the white coat faltered. He looked at Alex, unsure how he had figured out there were higher-ups above him.

At that moment, a door at the back of the room opened

A group of people in white coats stepped in.

“My apologies, Mr. Kirk. It’s not that we lack sincerity. We’ve simply been occupied, so we left the initial talks to our subordinates,” the man at the front said.

The letter on his badge started with S.

The real upper level.

Hayley glanced past them, but Diana wasn’t there.

“Meeting you is a pleasant surprise. You’re the only survivors we’ve encountered at sea. We take this very seriously.”

“Save it,” Alex cut him off. “What exactly are you proposing?”

“We want your people,” the S-level man said, looking at Alex.

“The Sovereign Academy is humanity’s hope. We’re searching worldwide for the most exceptional individuals to join our project. You’ve seen it yourself. Zombies are everywhere, and people are barely surviving. We aim to end the apocalypse and open the door to a new world. We want more people to join

“If you can provide us with your best people, we’ll give you an oil field. Free of charge.”

His tone was firm, almost stirring.

Alex frowned and glanced at Hayley.
