Chapter 761

This time, everyone got their own room.

Once they got inside, they all locked the door.

Hayley shot Griffin a look. He got the message right away.

The new room was seriously upscale. It had a private bathroom, a closet packed with white uniforms, a fridge, and a microwave.

The fridge was fully stocked. Snacks, soda, pastries, and even some wrapped sandwiches.

The microwave was there to heat everything up. It was pretty clear this was all meant to be their food supply.

Hayley did a quick sweep of the room and found cameras; even in the bathroom.

She didn’t hesitate. She grabbed some clothes and draped them over every camera she could find, then went to take a shower. She didn’t have any second thoughts. She just did it.

By the time she finished and changed into the uniform they had provided, evening had settled in. It was getting dark outside, but the hallway lights still hadn’t come on.

That was when she heard faint clicks coming from her locked door.

Hayley moved silently to the side of the door, keeping a cautious watch. The moment it opened, a tall figure in white stepped into view.

He was around six-one, with short hair, a sharp nose, and thin lips. His profile looked almost too perfect. The only odd thing was the panda eye mask, hiding his eye.

Then he turned slightly, revealing one eye. It was long and striking, carrying both a lazy edge and a kind of warmth.

Griffin.

“You just walked in like that?”

“What else was I supposed to do?” Griffin lifted the piece of wire in his hand.

With that one wire, he could open any door.

“I covered the cameras in my room, but the hallway cams definitely caught me,” he said with a grin. “So what’s the plan, Captain Gorgeous?”

T

“I’m trying to figure out what their next trial is,” Hayley said, her voice low. “They want us to leave this place and head to another island. If it’s far, that’s a problem.”

The only reason she had agreed to take this trial on this island was that Haylight League was right behind it.

Just like when she had gone straight into the inner camp before. That had been within her territory. No matter what she stirred up, she had a safety net.

But a new location meant real risk. She had to decide if it was worth digging deeper.

Just then, her door clicked again.

This time, it was a key.

The second Hayley heard it, she shoved Griffin into the bathroom to hide. She pressed herself against the wall beside the door, poised like a predator, ready to strike or defend.

The door swung open.

A figure in a white lab coat stood outside, a keycard hanging from the chest. Hayley’s stance froze the moment she saw the number on it.

A051.

The person outside had clearly been startled by the near ambush, but then her eyes widened even more.

“It’s you,” she said, “Winona’s/mom.”
