Chapter 793
Hayley stood uneasily to The side by the elevator doors, nervously watching the numbers on the panel.
Ding!
The elevator responded.
It was coming up.
The moment the doors slid open, her nerves spiked.
There was no one inside.
Hayley let out a small breath, tension easing just a little. She glanced at Griffin, and the two of them stepped in together.
They were both dressed in Sovereign Academy uniforms.
Kurt had told her the uniforms at the Sovereign Research Institute were identical to the Academy’s. Hayley was wearing Susan’s uniform, while Griffin had on Kurt’s. 1
Once inside, they both lowered their heads, keeping their profiles low.
Hayley pressed the button. The elevator dropped fast with a sharp mechanical whine.
The building had over 30 floors.
It took barely more than ten seconds to plunge from the rooftop to the underground level.
Gripping the handrail, Hayley steadied herself as the elevator came to a stop at the basement entrance. The doors slid open, and
a brightly lit underground facility stretched out in front of them.
Hayley stepped out first. The hallway outside was eerily quiet.
Kurt had told her this place was filled with high-level researchers.
Everyone worked on different projects.
Most of the time, people stayed inside their own labs. They wouldn’t wander or even talk to each other.
However, there was one group to watch out for: the Oversight Committee.
They were sent directly by Ascendant Creed, responsible for security and surveillance.
Hayley led Griffin forward, blending carefully into the institute.
Just then, a cold voice cut through the silence.
“Which sector are you from? What are you doing taking the elevator?”
Hayley turned her head.
A man stood there wearing a pure white badge. His badge was marked with a J.
Talk about bad luck! First step inside, and they had already run into the Oversight Committee. Not just one, but two of the
“We were just walking around. Needed some air,” Hayley said casually, the lie rolling off her tongue
The man’s eyes narrowed, suspicion flickering. “Where’s your ID?”
“Ah, 1 think 1 dropped my access card in the elevator”
Hayley turned and walked back toward it

The Oversight Committee members followed immediately.
The second they stepped inside the elevator, a powerful mental energy slammed straight into their minds. Hayley caught them as they collapsed, steadying their bodies. She exchanged a quick look with Griffin.
Half a minute later, Hayley and Griffin stepped back out, now dressed in a different set of uniforms.
This time, they moved through the Sovereign Research Institute without hesitation. There was no need to worry about standing
out.
Regular staff lowered their heads when they passed. No one dared meet their eyes.
Hayley and Griffin walked more freely now, deeper into the facility.
Along the way, she saw countless experiments being conducted.
Some were studying zombies.
Others worked on lab mice, cells, severed limbs, and even living humans.
