Scott stopped mid-step and glanced back at the two people behind him.

The S-level researcher in a whitelab coat beside him frowned. “Is something wrong?

His gaze followed Scott’s and landed on Hayley and Griffin

“Nothing,” Scott said after a beat. He turned away and kept walking. “Bring me this batch of research units. Headquarters is pushing hard.”

“Got it,” the researcher replied.

With Scott leading the way, the group disappeared down the corridor.

“Told you he wasn’t clean,” Griffin muttered near Hayley’s ear.

Hayley watched Scott’s back until he was gone. “Focus on the job.”

“Yeah.”

They moved through the underground facility, covering every blind spot the cameras couldn’t see. They planted timed charges in corners, maintenance gaps, and even inside restrooms.

The lab had three underground levels.

Hayley now carried four access cards: two S-level and two with Oversight Committee clearance.

Everywhere except the central restricted zone on the lowest floor was wired.

Hayley was still thinking of a way to get inside when she heard the squeak of cart wheels rolling down the hall. She glanced out and saw three people pushing a cart toward the restricted area.

They didn’t swipe cards. The one in front stepped up and punched in a long string of numbers.

Beep! The door slid open.

“You’ve got one minute. Grab it and get out,” the lead man said over his shoulder.

All three hurried inside. Less than a minute later, the door opened again. They came back out, the cart now fully loaded.

Hayley’s eyes locked onto what they were carrying.

Inside a glass case sat rows of labeled vials.

Just as they passed her, water began seeping out from the restroom nearby, spreading across the polished floor.

The surface was already slick. With water on it, the cart wheels lost traction instantly. The bottles rattled loudly in their slots.

“What the hell are you doing?” she yelled.

The sharp shout made all three workers flinch.

“We don’t know how there’s water here! It’s not our fault!” they said quickly, panic creeping into their voices.

Hayley shot them a cold look. “Then why aren’t you cleaning it up?”

They hesitated, exchanging looks. “Ma’am… That’s C-level work…”

“You think I don’t know that?” Her voice cut like a blade. “You’ve got time to stand around waiting? The wheels are soaked it anything in that cart gets damaged, are you going to take the fall for it?”

Startled by Hayley’s harsh tone, the three employees were left momentarily dazed

“Move! Get a mop! Clean the floor, then clean the cart. I don’t want anything to go wrong!”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Something about this felt off, but under her pressure, they didn’t dare question it. They pushed the cart into the restroom, and one of them went inside to grab a mop.
