A group of workers rushed past Hayley, jogging toward the building up ahead.
They were all heading for Harrison’s building entrance.
At the front doors stood a heavyset older man in a suit, blocking the way like a wall. He checked his watch with a cold, exact lo
“Time’s up! Anyone who didn’t make it here, drag them over!”
A few team leads running past Hayley immediately looked miserable.
“Mr. White, we were in the restroom. The second we heard the order, we ran straight over…”
“No excuses!” Harrison snapped, fury flashing across his face.
The moment he spoke, a squad of his personal security surged forward, grabbing everyone who arrived late and hauling them off to the side.
Hayley had been planning to blend into the crowd, watch the chaos for a bit, and slip inside once Harrison moved.
The next second, she got called out.
“You! Why are you still standing there? Get to work!”
Hayley blinked.
She looked up at Harrison, who was glaring straight at her from the entrance.
That was when she felt the subtle ripple of mental energy coming off him.
He was a mental–variant Gifted, level five.
His level wasn’t high enough to see through her completely, and with her dressed like any other security guard, she blended in perfectly. He had already lumped her in with his own security feam.
And now, he thought she was slacking.
Since she knew what he was, Hayley dropped any thought of moving around as freely as she had in District One.
She decided to stay low. Watching the guards drag people over, she slipped right in with them, moving in sync.
Under Ghost Mode, she disappeared into the group.
Harrison, still rigid and stern, saw the guards carrying out his orders and didn’t bother looking closer. He turned his attention back to the rows of team leads lined up in front of him.
“What kind of work are you people doing? Do you think I won’t notice if I’m not watching you every second? You call this production quality? A0421, step forward!“.
Standing at the entrance like a strict teacher calling on students, Harrison barked out names and grabbed a pack from a crate nearby, tossing it forward.
“This came off your hine. Did you even inspect it?”
“M–Mr. White, we checked it. It passed!” the senior team lead stammered, his legs practically shaking under him.
The moment he said that, Harrison’s expression dropped to something icy.
He gave a sharp wave of his hand. “Put him on the helicopter. I want him to test it himself.“
“Mr. White…”

“Do it!”
Harrison didn’t give him another second. Within moments, a helicopter roared to life on–site, and the man was dragged aboard.
From within the crowd, Hayley’s eyes lit up. She watched, fascinated, as the helicopter climbed to about 3,000 feet. Then, without hesitation, someone inside kicked the man out, making a public demonstration of the parachute’s safety.
