The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 821

Five minutes later, Hayley shoved open the gates to District Two and led Willow and the others out in a sprint.

It was already 8 p.m. Outside, security teams were everywhere, sweeping the area and hunting people down. The entire island was on lockdown.

Half the guards were in District Three, putting down zombies and clearing the area, while the other half were stationed everywhere else, tightening security and tracking suspects.

There were 20 guards in the control room alone, all of them glued to the surveillance feeds, scanning for anything out of place.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Explosions started going off across the island.

Every guard searching outside immediately rushed toward the blast sites.

Over here! People coming out of District Two!one guard shouted the moment he spotted Hayley’s group. He immediately realized they were the ones who had snuck onto the island.

But the second Hayley crossed out of District Two and into the open area, every single monitor feed in front of them went dead

in an instant.

They completely lost track of her.

Meanwhile, on a stretch of beach outside the island

A small motorboat sat by the shore. Onboard, Griffin was installing an engine onto it, working with a few of his guys.

They had been helping him for a while when one of them finally asked, Griffin, what are we doing? They’re calling everyone to go catch the intruders.

Catch them?Griffin let out a short laugh. I am the intruder.

Everyone froze.

Before they could react, he added, It’s too late to back out now. You helped us plant those explosives yesterday. They already see you as one of us.

Everyone went rigid again.

Griffin didn’t look bothered at all. You’ve got no other option. If I get caught, so do you. And when that happens, we’re all dead. Now go. A few of you watch the perimeter. Don’t let anyone get close.

They didn’t even know what to say.

A few guards moved out anyway.

When others came by asking if they had seen anything suspicious, they shook their heads hard, insisting they had already searched the area.

At around 8:30 p.m., Hayley showed up with the others.

The guard at the front saw them and immediately raised his weapon. Stop right there! Nobody’s here. Turn back!

Hayley walked straight up and kicked him. Open your eyes. It’s me!

The guard just stood there, stunned.

Their barely noticeable security captain!

Move!Griffin’s voice came from behind them.

Hayley led everyone, along with those few guards, straight onto the boat. Griffin fired up the engine. The motor roared to life as they prepared to pull away.

Overhead, the sound of rotor blades thundered. Several helicopters closed in fast.
