Chapter 860
The three Ark bases began issuing large amounts of league credit bonds, pouring resources into weapons manufacturing and military equipment.
Aside from a small portion of personnel assigned to basic supply work, nearly everyone else shifted into weapons production.
At Hayley’s docks, small warships rolled out one after another.
She had pushed the entire base into a wartime state. Weapons and gear were being produced in massive batches and shipped out nonstop.
Her foundation was strong enough to support it.
Four years into the apocalypse, most bases still struggled just to feed their people. Meanwhile, Hayley’s resources had been doubling year after year.
From early survival stockpiling to the surge in supplies after taking over cities, to farmland yields that held steady even through disasters, her reserves had reached a staggering level.
One day of production was enough to feed the entire base for a year. Everything beyond that could be poured into expansion.
Heavy industry or weapons manufacturing, none of it strained her.
On the population side, Hayley took a bold step and introduced a communal child-rearing program.
A base-wide donor system was established, combining assisted and natural conception to increase the population. Every child born would be raised by the base, and women who gave birth would receive substantial rewards in points and supplies.
For the first time in the apocalypse, there was a place where birth rates were rising rapidly instead of falling.
Hayley signed off on Alex’s progress report with a quick stroke of her pen.
Early the next morning, Alex rushed in with dark circles under his eyes,
“Finished all the reports?” Hayley looked up at him right after wrapping up another batch. “Perfect timing! I just finished reviewing these. Go ahead and do a few more.”
“Just kill me already,” Alex said, his face going dark as he nearly choked on the words.
“Why would I do that? Where would I find someone as capable as you?” Hayley grinned. “Alex, the more you can handle, the more you should take on. I’ve got high expectations for you.”
“Hmph!” Alex snorted, then pulled out a stack of documents. These are newly compiled reports on other bases.”
“Nice. Appreciate it.” Hayley took the stack from him.
Her super signal tower had sent out plenty of outreach messages, and more than half had already responded.
Once a few more came in, she planned to start discussing cooperation on a larger scale.
As she flipped through the files, one report caught her eye immediately.
[Emergency request! Emergency request! Dear Ms. Reid, this is West Sea Base. First, thank you for your previous supply support, which helped us through a crisis. But we’re facing a serious situation again. Our base director is

trapped in the underground parts depot in Portwell. The area is overrun with advanced zombies, level 5 and above. Our strength isn’t enough to handle it. We urgently need about ten of your strongest fighters to assist us!
[If you can rescue our base director, we’re willing to pay any price!]
After Hayley finished reading, Alex spoke up.
