Chapter 878

Hayley walked back over to her team and sat down to eat with them.

On the other side, under Leah’s constant clinging, Josh finally reached out and patted her head. “I care about you. Now, go ahead and take the food out.”

Hayley just stared.

Yeah… No.

Her appetite disappeared instantly. She glanced at Leah, who now had a satisfied smile on her face.

Leah pulled out canned food from her inventory and handed it around like she was in charge.

“I’m done.”

Hayley tossed her utensils aside and stood up, heading back toward Ethan.

She didn’t like these people, but they hadn’t crossed her directly, so there was no reason to get involved. Even though she had met Maisie first and had been moved by the latter’s feelings, even felt for her, she still had no right to fight her battles for her.

She wasn’t some moral crusader.

People made their own choices. Even if it was messy, even if it was wrong, that was for the people involved to deal with.

As long as it didn’t touch her, it wasn’t her problem. 1

Out of sight, out of mind.

Hayley went back to Ethan’s side for some peace and quiet. She also wanted to check her points anyway.

As she left, every pair of eyes from Josh’s group shifted to the untouched meal she had abandoned.

Leonard and the others each had two meals. They were full and didn’t care.

But for the others, it was torture.

Colin’s eyes darted, then he hurried over. “Boss… You’re not eating that?”

“Nope. Lost my appetite,” Hayley said.

“Then…” Colin swallowed hard. “Can I have it?”

Hayley gave him a quick look. “Sure, but it’s yours alone.”

She didn’t wait for a reply. She walked off, sat down by Ethan, and closed her eyes to rest.

Colin didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the box immediately.

The moment he lifted the lid, the smell hit.

Everyone nearby froze.

Inside was a full meal: a perfectly fried egg, golden on both sides; rich, savory beef stew; crispy fried chicken; a thick slice of glazed salmon; crispy pork belly; fresh vegetables like zucchini and cauliflower; and a bed of steaming white rice topped with soft, stewed eggplant.

“Holy… Wow…”

They couldn’t even form proper sentences.

Everyone stared at the meal, loaded with meat, fish, eggs, and vegetables, too shocked to look away.

This was the apocalypse.

How were people still eating like this? Was Haylight League seriously that strong?

Even Josh couldn’t help it. His eyes lingered on the meal before shifting toward Hayley and his expression turned complicated.

There was no comparison.

Colin unwrapped his utensils, grinning. “Sorry, Boss said this one’s just for me.”

The moment he said it, the others looked at him with pure envy.

If only they had gotten on good terms earlier! Maybe they would be eating like this, too.

Leah watched Colin shovel in rice and meat, her eyes dark with jealousy. She snorted, grabbed the food she had just handed out, and pulled it back.

“All you care about is food! Why don’t you just go eat with them from now on? You’re not getting anything from us again, you
