Chapter 96
The zombie, having missed its attack, lifted its grotesque head and let out a feral roar at Hayley and Leonard.
“Raaaarh!!”
This was a fresh zombie.
Thick, bright–red pus dripped from its mouth. Half of its face had been chewed away, and the rest was horribly disfigured, as if it had been smashed face–first into the ground. Its skull looked crushed and broken. White brain matter, mixed with black–red fluids, dripped down its face in thick globs.
It opened its gaping maw, the entire head looking like it could fall apart at any second. Its bloodied, mangled flesh made it look straight out of a horror movie–not to mention its gut had been completely hollowed out.

It lunged toward Hayley and Leonard.
Boom!
A high–pressure water stream shot straight at its head.
Rumble…
To Leonard’s surprise, the wall beside him collapsed with a crash, landing right in front of zombie Miles.
Every drop of Leonard’s water pressure hit the wall instead.
Then, a black shadow shot toward him.
Leonard ducked, then delivered a flying kick that sent the shadow tumbling down the stairwell.
Even a zombified Miles couldn’t match Leonard’s reflexes; his body always reacted faster than his brain.
Suddenly, the stairs beneath Leonard began to give way. Concrete crumbled, steel beams buckled, and his foot hung in midair as he started to fall.
Hayley grabbed his shoulders in one powerful motion and yanked him up. 1
But the danger wasn’t over.
The stairs kept collapsing, and Hayley had no time to set Leonard down. She hoisted him and sprinted upward.
With every step they ran, the stairs behind them fell away. Chunks of cement plummeted in a thunderous roar, and Leonard watched the stairwell collapse layer by layer. Between the gaps in the debris, he could see a figure all

“Boss! That earth–element gifted zombie still has its powers…and they’re stronger!”
