Hayley scanned the crowd of zombies.
“Everyone, listen up. Clear their heads out and grab whatever’s inside.”
With a casual motion, she cracked open a zombie’s skull, flicked her blade, and plucked out a rice–sized crystal
core.
Everyone’s eyes lit up at the sight.
“Whoever collects and turns in the most gets rewards!” Hayley added, giving them another push.
Immediately, everyone started scrambling to clean up zombies and collect cores. 1
Once the task of gathering crystal cores was assigned, Hayley turned to Leonard. “Clear out all the zombies inside the factory.”
“On it!”
She led Leonard to the rooftop passage.
E
The massive iron gate, secured with thick chains, couldn’t hold back the crowded mass of zombies jammed inside like sardines.
Through a fist–sized gap in the door, the zombies screeched and clawed wildly. Seeing Leonard and Hayley approach, their excitement went through the roof.
Hayley swung her sword against the chains.
With a sharp scrape, the chains snapped into two, and the zombies burst out like caged beasts.
But they were immediately met with a high–pressure water stream. It split into countless water bullets the moment it touched the zombies, and at that pressure and speed, each water sphere hit like a bullet.
Whoosh!
Zombies dropped left and right under the relentless barrage.
Any other Gifted would have been speechless seeing this. 1
That was some insane power!
Most Gifted could only form small water spheres, fireballs, or tiny earth mounds. Even Miles, who tried to stop Hayley before, was considered strong.
But Leonard casually wielded a high–pressure water stream, controlling the water’s form at will. This level of mastery was already equivalent to a level 3 Gifted.
And it was all thanks to Hayley having him drink the evolution serum every day. Plus, it had zero side effects.
By the time other bases started pushing their evolution serum, Hayley and Leonard would already be way ahead in combat power.
And those other serums? They all came with nasty side effects. There was no contest.
Leonard took point, killing each zombie as they emerged and clearing the safe passage with surgical precision.
Hayley leaned back lazily with her blade, stepping in only to finish off stragglers.
Soon, the safe passage was clear.

She reminded Julian and the others not to forget to collect the crystal cores, then led Leonard further into the passage.
She had to clean every single zombie in this factory, both inside and out. Eventually, she would mark this factory as hers, expanding her territory.
With all the machinery already in place, it would make processing food much easier in the future.
