He knocked, dropped that single sentence, and his footsteps receded until they disappeared entirely.
Her request died on her lips.
That bastard!!!
He used his good looks to seduce her and ended up summoning her period instead.
And he just up and bolted?
Rubbing her stomach and cursing him under her breath, she grabbed some tissue to hold her over while she hunted for a pad.
Once back in bed, she grabbed Jason's pillow and punched it viciously.
What the hell did he want?
He was the one who was supposed to have the divorce papers ready.
But he was also the one stalling the process.
What was his game?
Right before sleep claimed her, she suddenly realized it.
In this marriage, Jason was the absolute authority, the one in control.
Was he dragging this out on purpose because her asking for a divorce first had bruised his massive ego?
Did he seriously have to be that petty?
Jerk!!!
Getting angrier the more she cursed him, Harriet eventually drifted off to sleep fueled by rage.
At the same time, Jason pushed open the doors to the private lounge.
"Jason!"
Jane spotted him instantly and stood up, reaching out to take his jacket as he slipped it off.
"I've got it."
He dodged her hands and handed it to a server instead.
Over a dozen men and women were in the suite, some playing cards, others shooting pool, and a few flirting at the bar.
When they saw him, everyone turned to look.
"Jason!"
"Mr. Whitaker..."
Two guys at the card table waved for someone to take their spots and walked over.
"Jason, is Seraphina okay?" Luke asked, his face lined with indignation as he handed over a drink. "I bet Harriet is pulling this crap on purpose. Otherwise, why would she only take Seraphina to the amusement park and conveniently lose her? That woman is getting crazier by the day!"
Keith Sterling, the oldest of the three, was more composed. "Parenting makes anyone crazy. As long as Seraphina is fine, that's what matters."
