Jillian walked in holding Connor's hand. The boy was carrying a bag of snacks they had clearly picked up on the way.

Seeing Sienna in the entryway, Jillian kept her expression neutral and offered a polite greeting. "Sienna."

She offered no extra words to Natalie, who stood to the side looking visibly impatient.

Connor, however, was as lively as ever. He tilted his little head up and asked sweetly, "Natalie! Did you bring me anything good to eat today?"

Natalie, already in a foul mood, snapped back a curt, "No."

"Con, come change your shoes and wash your hands," Jillian said softly. She pulled the boy close, not sparing another glance at Sienna and her daughter.

Sienna's expression grew even colder. Without lingering, she picked up her purse, lifted her chin, and walked out.

Natalie followed her out with obvious reluctance.

The house finally fell quiet.

After Connor changed his shoes and washed his hands, Jillian brought out his toys, planning to take him out to the yard to play.

Killian's voice suddenly rang out, his tone brokering no argument. "Professor Xavier isn't just some ordinary tutor. Who gave you the right to throw your weight around in front of him?"

Jillian understood instantly.

Silas must have complained to him.

"In that case," she said calmly, "I simply won't take Con to his drawing classes anymore."

"I am warning you, not inviting you to negotiate with me."

Jillian looked up at Killian, a hint of hesitation in her eyes before she finally spoke in a quiet voice. "Silas Xavier is my biological father. Years ago, he abandoned my mother and me for Madeline. I never want to see him again for the rest of my life. Is that so hard to accept?"

Jillian thought that by ripping open this old, scabbed-over wound, even if Killian didn't love her, basic human decency would stop him from forcing her to see Silas again.

But her expectations were shattered.

Killian fell silent for a moment before replying, his tone as hard and emotionless as stone. "I have no interest in your personal baggage. Taking care of Connor is your responsibility now."

After getting ready, Jillian walked out of The Yale Residences. It wasn't long before Daniel's car pulled up outside, having driven over specifically to pick her up.

"Daniel, did you need to see me for something?" Jillian asked softly as she slid into the passenger seat.

Daniel offered a slight smile. "A personal matter, but it involves you, too."

Jillian didn't press for details and settled quietly into her seat.

"That dress looks great on you today. Very beautiful," Daniel said, glancing at her with a gentle tone.

It had been stiflingly hot the past few days, but thankfully, the weather today was pleasant with a nice breeze.

Daniel rolled down the windows and opened the sunroof, allowing the cool wind to sweep through the car and playfully toss strands of Jillian's hair.

Her recent commitment to exercising and a controlled diet had helped her drop almost ten pounds, making her figure look noticeably more graceful.

She wore a pale yellow dress today. It complemented her luminous complexion perfectly, bringing out a radiant glow in her skin.
