"Con, is that your mom?" one of the kids asked.

Connor nodded vigorously. "Yeah! She came to Aunt Patricia's birthday party with me."

He bounded joyfully over to Jillian. It was only when he reached her that he noticed the others—Daniel and Stella.

Connor looked at them in confusion, a nagging thought hitting him: If Mom was here for Aunt Patricia's birthday, she definitely wouldn't have brought these people.

"Con, I'm sorry. Mom isn't here for the birthday party today. I have some important business to take care of."

Just then, Daniel gently nudged her from behind. "Jillian, the coach is here."

Jillian looked at Connor apologetically. Since Stella would be training domestically from now on, finding the right coaching team was crucial.

Through his connections, Daniel had managed to hire a former Olympic champion as Stella's Head Coach, and they were meeting for dinner for the first time.

"I knew Stella was more important than me."

"That's not true, Con." Jillian crouched down, holding his arms and explaining earnestly. "This is just a birthday party. Your sister is meeting her coach today, which is incredibly important for her skating career. I didn't know you would be here. If I had known, I would've booked a different place."

"How about I come see you in a bit?"

Connor nodded. "You promised. You have to come."

Jillian nodded back. Connor wasn't nearly as petulant as he used to be. Although he was clearly unhappy, he still stepped aside to let them pass.

Guided by the staff, Jillian walked into a separate private dining room.
