"Mr. Quincy." This time, Jillian had learned her lesson and knocked first.

"Come in."

Jillian entered and delivered a progress report on the facility merger for the two projects.

She was razor-sharp, exceptionally articulate, and profoundly logical. Her presentation was a masterclass in executive professionalism.

Even Sean, who hadn't managed a company in decades, was struck by her sheer brilliance. When she finished, he gave her an appreciative, polite nod.

Jillian immediately nodded back.

With the briefing over, Jillian turned to leave. Just as the door was closing behind her, she heard Sean say, "Bring Connor and his mother tonight. I'd like to take you all out for dinner."

The rest of the conversation behind closed doors clearly went nowhere.

Shortly after, Sean stood up, though he didn't leave the building right away.

Long before Killian, Sean had been groomed as the heir apparent, spending years working in this very building.

Times had changed. The Quincy headquarters had undergone a massive renovation, boasting a sleek, ultra-modern aesthetic.

Standing there, Sean felt a bizarre mix of nostalgia and alienation.

Jillian had just wrapped up a quick sync with her team. Walking out of the conference room, she bumped right into him.

"Do you need any help finding your way?" she asked with a smile.

Sean instantly recognized her as the brilliant executive from earlier. Highly impressed, he smiled and shook his head. "No, thank you. Just taking a walk down memory lane."

Jillian knew exactly who he was, but considering she was bound to divorce Killian anyway, she felt no obligation to play nice. She had literally never even met this father-in-law during her entire marriage.

Since Killian hadn't bothered to introduce them, she certainly wasn't going to throw herself at his feet and introduce herself as his daughter-in-law.

So she offered a polite smile and walked away.

Sean watched her go, genuine admiration glowing in his eyes.

Just then, Sylvia marched down the hall with her team. Someone had messed up, and she was publicly tearing into them, leaving the employee hanging their head in humiliation.

Sean frowned heavily at the sight.
