Jillian poked her head out of the kitchen. "You guys take a seat first, the noodles will take a few more minutes to boil."

"Mom, what kind of noodles are we having today?" the child asked in a crisp, bright voice.

"A Prime Beef Noodle Bowl," Jillian replied with a smile. "Your grandmother simmered the beef bone broth all day and slow-roasted the beef. It smells absolutely incredible."

The two kids immediately exaggerated their cravings, looking so adorable that Jillian burst out laughing.

Right at that moment, Jillian's phone rang. The caller ID read Killian.

She stepped into the corner of the kitchen to take the call, then turned to Judith. "Killian is coming over to pick up Connor."

Judith instantly frowned. "Didn't we agree the boy would stay here for two days? Why the sudden change to pick him up tonight?"

"He said Connor's grandfather wants to see him."

"Connor's grandfather? He actually came back?" Lydia asked in surprise. "I almost forgot Connor even had a grandfather."

Judith didn't know much about the Quincy family's internal affairs, but from what she had seen, she could deduce that Killian's family dynamic was far from normal.

Back when the two families arranged the marriage, she had only ever met Killian and Sienna Sterling, never any of the male elders from the Quincy family.

Later, when she helped Jillian look after the baby at The Yale Residences, Killian never once mentioned his father.

Wealthy families were often emotionally detached, and Judith had long suspected that Killian's father was likely an irresponsible playboy.

Killian's current cold and ruthless nature was probably inherited straight from his old man.

"He just got back a few days ago," Jillian explained.

"Have you seen him?" Judith asked.

Jillian nodded. "Yeah, I saw him once."
