In the past, Judith and Lydia used to act somewhat reserved and deferential around Killian. But things were different now. They had much more confidence standing in front of him, to the point where they could unabashedly roll their eyes to his face.

Killian didn't care in the slightest. After his brief nod, he walked straight into the house.

"Dad? What are you doing here!"

Connor's eyes lit up the second he saw him, his face filled with pure delight.

Jillian hadn't had a chance to tell him why Killian was here. Assuming his father had come specifically to spend time with him, Connor happily grabbed Killian with one hand and Jillian with the other, saying sweetly, "This is great! Mom and Dad get to eat dinner with me tonight! I'm so happy!"

Seeing Connor's hopeful and satisfied expression, Jillian's face flushed with awkwardness, entirely unsure of how to break the news.

Fortunately, Killian spoke up first. "No, your grandfather misses you. Dad is here to take you back to the manor."

The smile vanished from Connor's face, his little shoulders slumping as he mumbled, "But I don't even know Grandpa..."

Killian's brow furrowed slightly, but he didn't reprimand the boy. He simply added, "Your great-grandmother is waiting for you too."

Hearing the finality in his father's voice, Connor knew he had no choice but to leave. The light in his eyes completely faded, replaced by profound disappointment.

Seeing the boy look so heartbroken, Judith couldn't bear it and spoke up. "If you wanted to pick him up, you should have told us earlier. Dinner is almost ready, and you're just dragging him away. The storm is terrible out there. What if the boy catches a cold on the way back?"

Stella chimed in to make him stay. "Connor, why don't you stay and eat before you go? You won't be as cold if you have a full stomach!"

Jillian also realized that the kids had been so busy playing all afternoon that they hadn't eaten a proper meal, snacking the entire time.

"Connor, just have a Prime Beef Noodle Bowl to warm up first," Jillian coaxed gently. She then turned to Killian. "It takes an hour to drive back to The Quincy Manor from here. It's freezing and pouring outside. Connor won't be able to handle the ride on an empty stomach."
