Seeing this, Lydia remarked coolly, "If you have stomach problems, you should definitely eat something hot. Don't go having a flare-up in our house and try to blame us for it later. Jillian, get our guest a bowl of noodles."

"Sure," Jillian replied, standing up and heading into the kitchen.

She first served bowls for her grandmother, Judith, Stella, and Connor, placing them on the table before ladling out one more Prime Beef Noodle Bowl for Killian.

Suddenly, looking at the chopped scallions on the cutting board, Jillian paused. A thought crossed her mind, and she grabbed a hefty handful of scallions, dumping them straight into Killian's bowl.

She carried the bowl over to the table, set it down in front of Killian, and said flatly, "Eat."

Killian looked down. Seeing the thick layer of scallions floating in the broth, his gaze darkened.

He had always been a notoriously picky eater. He could tolerate the flavor of scallions in a broth, but he absolutely refused to eat the actual pieces.

Back at The Quincy Manor, the chefs would specifically blend scallions, ginger, and garlic into a juice for flavoring, ensuring not a single solid trace remained.

Jillian had catered to his every need for years; she knew his ridiculous dietary quirks intimately.

He lifted his eyes and cast a cool glance at Jillian. He knew immediately that she had done it on purpose.

Though, there was a slight chance she had simply forgotten.

Jillian kept her head down, quietly eating her noodles, fully aware that Killian was staring at her.

Even though she felt a tiny prick of guilt, it was vastly overshadowed by a long-lost sense of relief and satisfaction.

She was never going to walk on eggshells to accommodate him again, and she certainly wasn't going to indulge his obnoxious habits.

Killian didn't touch the bowl.

Once Connor finished his dinner, Killian stood up with the boy, said his goodbyes, and drove off.

The car exited the neighborhood, heading toward The Yale Residences.
