Killian shook his head. "No need. He'll be thrilled when he wakes up tomorrow."

He wasn't just saying that to the maid; he was making sure Jillian heard it too.

Jillian wouldn't leave now, not if it meant seeing her son. She would stay at least until Connor Quincy woke up the next morning.

Just as expected, she didn't bring up leaving again. Turning to Killian, she asked, "Where is my room?"

Killian instructed Mrs. Lewis to show her to a guest room. Mrs. Lewis was a familiar face; back when Jillian lived at The Yale Residences, she had always been decent to her, unlike Mrs. Zeller, who was a snobbish opportunist.

With Mrs. Zeller gone, Mrs. Lewis was now in charge of the household staff.

"Ma'am, please follow me," Mrs. Lewis said politely.

Pushing open the guest room door, she gave a brief tour. "This suite is reserved for guests and is cleaned daily. It has everything you need, including a private study and an en-suite bathroom."

"Oh, listen to me rambling. You lived here for years, ma'am. You know this place better than anyone," she added with a warm smile.

Jillian thought to herself—yes, she had lived here for five years. She knew the layout perfectly.

In fact, she had been the one to instruct the maids on how to furnish this very guest room.

Back then, she had truly treated this place as her home, putting her heart into every detail, dreaming of warm family dinners and joyful gatherings.

But the reality of her marriage had been five long years of Killian's freezing indifference.

"If you need anything, ma'am, just let me know," Mrs. Lewis said.

"Thank you." Jillian nodded, then gently corrected her. "Please just call me by my name from now on. I'm no longer the lady of this house."

Mrs. Lewis paused in surprise before quietly slipping out of the room.

Once she was alone, Jillian collapsed onto the bed. Though her headache had eased significantly and she had received IV fluids, exhaustion still seeped into her bones.

Knock, knock, knock.

Jillian had just sat up when Killian let himself in, carrying a glass of water.
