"And my current situation is incredibly restricted."

Exhaustion filled Jillian's eyes as she rested her chin on her hand and stared out the window. According to her plan, she still needed to stay at Langley Corporation for another year and a half. She couldn't resign until all her key projects were securely finalized.

Langley Corporation and Quincy Group currently maintained a deep partnership. If she stubbornly sued for divorce now and backed Killian into a corner, there was no telling what he might do. It could drag Daniel Langley's company down with her, and she refused to betray Daniel's years of mentorship and trust.

Mallory knew exactly what she was thinking. "Then just stall until you resign."

Jillian shook her head. "There's something else."

"What now? What did Killian do this time?" Mallory demanded instantly.

"I told you before about that small tech startup I wanted to acquire to start my own business."

Mallory nodded. "I remember. Did something go wrong?"

"Someone hijacked it," Jillian said softly.

"You think Killian did it?"

Jillian nodded. "It's my own fault. When I made that call at the hospital, I should have stepped away from him. He asked a few casual questions, and I didn't think much of it. I told him the company's name and my acquisition plans. I never imagined he would sabotage it."

Sitting beside them, Stella listened with half-understanding and asked softly, "Mom, are you sad?"

"No, Mom is fine," Jillian comforted her gently.

But Mallory couldn't hold back. She looked at the girl and explained bluntly, "It's Big Brother Connor's dad. He's refusing to divorce your mom and purposely causing trouble to bully her. Don't you think he's a huge jerk?"

Stella nodded vehemently in agreement.
