Jillian simply deleted the photos.
By the time Killian noticed the online chatter and clicked into her feed, the pictures were already gone. All that remained were the associated posts, including the detailed analysis published by the fans.
He hesitated for a moment before clicking into it. From the reflection on the light fixture, it was impossible to definitively say it was Bash, though the blurry silhouette clearly belonged to a man.
Yet, the fans were absolutely convinced it was the young star.
Killian scrolled through the post with a blank expression for a few minutes before closing the tab. He buried himself back in his work, acting as if nothing had happened.
Sylvia walked into his office to drop off some files.
"Jillian and Bash are making headlines again. I guess they really can't hide their relationship anymore. She looks really happy, though, sneaking off to Hartford for romantic dates."
Killian's pen paused. He looked up at Sylvia.
A wave of guilt washed over her. Under his penetrating gaze, her petty scheming felt completely exposed.
"We're divorced. You don't need to be so defensive about her," Killian stated bluntly.
Sylvia looked incredibly awkward.
"I didn't mean it like that. Jillian has a fresh start, and I'm just happy for her..."
Killian had zero patience for her hypocritical pleasantries. He waved a hand, dismissing her.
Sylvia had barely left when Sienna called.
She had obviously seen Jillian's latest scandal online.
"I saw that celebrity boy is only twenty-two. He's far too young. It's really not appropriate for Jillian to be involved with him," Sienna suggested carefully.
"If you have an issue with it, take it up with your daughter. It's not my job to vet her boyfriends."
Sienna sounded embarrassed. She only called Killian because she couldn't exactly confront Jillian herself.
"I just wanted to ask if you could maybe drop a hint the next time you drop Connor off. Tell her to find someone a bit more reliable..." Sienna's tone bordered on pleading.
"Who she dates is none of my business, and I'm not going to waste my time on something like this."
With that, Killian hung up abruptly. He tossed his expensive fountain pen across the desk, completely devoid of any desire to work.
The pen rolled off the edge and hit the floor. Caleb walked in, carefully picking it up. Noticing his boss's foul mood, he turned to leave immediately.
"Look into whoever is backing Bash," Killian ordered.
Caleb froze, convinced he had misheard.
But he quickly recovered.
