Daniel proceeded to introduce the heavy-hitting corporate titans to Jillian one by one.

Although Jillian was practically a nobody in the industry, Daniel clearly held her in the highest regard.

Taking their cue from him, the executives treated Jillian with utmost respect.

"By the way, this is Marcus Rhodes, CEO of Cortex Motors. He runs the largest automotive smart-chip R&D team in the country," Daniel concluded.

He then gestured for Jillian to take a seat with them.

As the executives delved into industry shop talk, someone directed a question at Jillian. The moment the topic shifted into her professional territory, a radiant, confident smile blossomed on her face. She navigated the complex subjects flawlessly, speaking with striking eloquence.

Meanwhile, Sienna, Madeline, and the rest were left awkwardly standing off to the side.

Madeline shot Sienna a deeply uncomfortable look.

Sienna herself was taken aback. She had never seen Jillian in a professional setting and had absolutely no idea she possessed the aura of a high-level executive.

Gibson chuckled softly. "Ms. Sterling, if I remember correctly, your daughter-in-law was a top student at a prestigious university."

Sienna's expression stiffened. "Yes. She went to the same school as Killian."

Natalie scoffed loudly. "Daniel went to St. Jude's too. He's probably just giving her special treatment out of pity for an old alum."

That comment instantly made Sylvia bristle. She was also an alum of St. Jude's, and she had been far more popular and well-known on campus than Jillian ever was.

Yet Daniel had completely ignored her existence.

Natalie's casual remark felt like a direct slap to Sylvia's face.

Completely oblivious to her blunder, Natalie pushed on.

"My sister-in-law hasn't worked a day since she got married, and she clearly doesn't have any friends. If Daniel wasn't throwing her a bone, these people wouldn't give her the time of day."

Sylvia's face went ice-cold. Without uttering a single word, she spun around and marched out of the restaurant.

"Sylvia?" Connor mumbled, utterly confused as to why his favorite person was suddenly so angry.

Madeline's face drained of color as she forced an apologetic smile at Sienna. "Sylvia must just be tired."

"Don't worry about it," Sienna dismissed breezily. "You should head home first."

On the ride back, Sienna fired off a brief text to Jillian, informing her that they were taking Connor home.

She didn't bother adding anything else.

Jillian glanced down at her phone, her train of thought entirely unbroken.

"...By leveraging the synergy between the chip and the central compute platform, we achieve unified cabin-driving control. Theoretically, the time it takes for sensor signals to reach the central processor could be reduced by at least eighty percent..."

After discussing a bit further, the other executives noted their upcoming schedules, and the impromptu gathering wrapped up.

Jillian stood up.

Marcus extended a hand proactively. "It was a pleasure meeting you today. I hope we cross paths again at the upcoming industry summit."

Jillian shook his hand gracefully.

Then, she and Daniel walked out of the restaurant.

"Wait here for a second," Daniel told her. "I'll go pull the car around."
