The Fake Heiress and Her Purrfect Partner novel Chapter 109

**Dreams Rise Again by Braxton**
**Chapter 109**

“Wow, you really have an impressive memory,” Finn stammered, his face flushing a deep crimson from the sting of the retort. He stood there, momentarily speechless, grappling with the unexpected blow to his pride.

Behind him, his lackeys squirmed uncomfortably, wishing fervently for the ground to open up and swallow them whole. They could feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating.

“Now, let’s discuss that contract of yours,” Director Chambers interjected, his voice slicing through the awkward silence. He observed Finn’s expression shift from indignation to a ghostly pallor, his tone growing as frigid as the winter winds. “Your company failed to complete the demolition project you were supposed to oversee. That’s a significant violation.”

Finn’s heart raced, panic flooding his senses. “So, according to the terms of the contract, you won’t be receiving a single cent from the final payment,” Director Chambers continued, his gaze unwavering. “And those bonuses you were counting on? Consider them nonexistent. As for the remainder of the project, we’ll be assigning it to professionals who actually know what they’re doing.”

Finn’s anxiety morphed into desperation, beads of sweat forming on his brow. In a moment of vulnerability, he turned to Nina, the corners of his mouth twisting into a forced grin that barely concealed his desperation. “N-Nina! Please, say something on behalf of your uncle. We’re family, after all.”

Nina regarded him with an unsettling calmness, her eyes piercing yet devoid of warmth. “You claim to be my uncle,” she began, her voice steady, almost chilling. “But let me ask you this: throughout my childhood, whenever I faced difficulties, did you ever extend a helping hand?”

Before Finn could muster a response, Nina pressed on, her words striking like daggers. “Two years ago, your ranch was ravaged by an animal epidemic. You were panicking, flailing around like a frantic insect on a hot stove. Who was it that stayed up with you, devising a prevention strategy, administering vaccines and medications, and vigilantly watching over your livestock for three long days to salvage your fortune?”

Finn opened his mouth to speak, but Nina’s relentless barrage continued. “And after all that, you couldn’t even muster a genuine ‘thank you.’ To you, I was merely the family vet—just fulfilling my so-called duty, right?”

Her voice dripped with a biting irony as she concluded, “And now, you have the audacity to call yourself my uncle and expect my assistance?”

Her words left Finn utterly stripped of his defenses, exposed and shamed for all to witness. He felt like a criminal marked by his own ingratitude.

Fuming, Finn leaned in closer, his voice a low hiss filled with venom. “You little brat! Just wait and see. You think you’re all high and mighty—there’s no way the Summer family will let you off the hook.”

Nina merely smirked, a mixture of pity and disdain etched across her features. “Oh, really? Why don’t you go have a chat with Alex and find out who’s truly being put in their place right now?”

Finn stood there, dumbfounded, the fire in his belly extinguished. He had taken a brutal hit today, losing not just his pride but also his financial security.

With clenched teeth and his tail firmly tucked between his legs, he gestured to his beleaguered lackeys, signaling them to follow him as he slinked away in disgrace.

Director Chambers, while unaware of the intricate drama unfolding between Nina and Finn, felt a wave of sympathy wash over him as he absorbed Nina’s words. It became clear just how much she had endured over the years.

His tone softened, yet retained its firmness. “Nina, I’d like to sit down with you later tonight to go over that ‘Special Animal Unit’ proposal you and Gordon devised. First thing tomorrow, I’ll gather everyone necessary for a meeting to ensure we get things moving without delay.”

Nina’s eyes lit up with excitement, a radiant smile breaking across her face. “That sounds fantastic! Thank you so much, Director Chambers.”

“No, thank you,” he replied with a wave of his hand, his voice steady. “By the way, there’s a special bonus for handling those holdouts. Finn’s demolition crew couldn’t manage it, but you did. I’ll submit a request for the full payment to be awarded to you.”

He paused for a moment, calculating in his head. “We’ve been at a standstill with that family for ages, and the compensation had been locked at 1 million. But thanks to your efforts, we’ve managed to save almost the entire sum.”
