Chapter 121 Consultation Fee
“So, seniors, what’s your consultation fee for today?” Nina asked, respectfully addressing the group.
Nina ran her fingers over her beat-up phone, silently cheering it on, “Hang in there, old pal!
“Just a little longer. Once my salary and bonus from the police consultant gig drop on the first, I’ll treat you to a shiny new upgrade!’
Ronan blinked in surprise. “Consultation fee?” He repeated, sounding like he couldn’t believe his ears.
He had been totally focused on the red panda’s scan, but now he looked up, wide-eyed, as if this was the last thing he expected to hear.
He shook his head. “I brought six students here to watch your surgery. I just turned your zoo into a live classroom.
“Honestly, I should be paying you for letting me use this place as a teaching site, don’t you think?”
As he spoke, he turned and glanced at his six-person team standing behind him.
After being called “students” by Ronan, the veterinarians looked up, totally baffled.
Under Ronan’s intense stare, they started nodding furiously like chickens pecking for food. “Yeah! Ms. Summer, there’s no way we could charge you a consultation fee!”
Ronan smiled warmly. “Ms. Summer, just send your bank account number to my assistant later. We’ll work out the details and transfer the venue fee straight to you.”
Nina was so shocked that her jaw nearly hit the floor.
She thought, ‘Seriously? These elite experts literally came to my small-time zoo to do surgery, and instead of charging me? They’re actually paying me? Is this real life?’
She felt like she’d just been hit by a bolt of pure luck. Her head was spinning, and she could barely believe her good fortune.
Meanwhile, Loomis was fiddling with the surgical equipment, grinding his teeth in frustration.
Not willing to back down, Loomis spoke up. “Ms. Summer, we’ve just developed some new surgical assist equipment, and we’re itching to get some real-world trial runs in. Would you mind if we borrowed your zoo and your animal cases for testing?
“Honestly, we haven’t even had the chance to thank you yet for helping us.
“We’ll leave the device here for now. Since Forest Isle Zoo has plenty of animals coming in for follow-up exams, could you help me keep an eye on it and run it through some tests? If anything comes up, just give me a heads-up.”
Jevon, from the Wildlife Rescue Center, spoke earnestly, “Ms. Summer, you’re a top animal communicator. We’ Il need your expertise whenever we run into tough or unusual cases with wild animals.
“We’ll probably need your advice quite often in the future, so there’s no way we’d ever ask you for a consultation fee.”
Nina nodded enthusiastically. “If you come across any problems with rescuing wild animals, feel free to reach out! I’ll do my best to help!”
“No worries,” Jevon assured her with a gentle smile. “We won’t be calling and bothering you all the time.
“Whenever we do need your expertise, we’ll absolutely pay you a consultant fee. The price is always negotiable.”
Nina was left completely speechless.
She thought, ‘What’s with these people? Either they’re offering me money or dropping off free equipment!’
But then she realized that these heavyweights probably figured out something since she could understand animals.

Chapter 121 Consultation Fee
Nina dropped any hesitation, flashed a big smile, and thanked them openly.
In the end, Loomis took charge of the red panda’s intestinal tube surgery, with Jevon acting as his right-hand and keeping a close eye on the anesthesia.
Ronan rallied his crew, making sure every instrument was in place while giving quick reads on the live surgical images.
Little Orange blinked her big, round eyes, looking lost as she watched the three unfamiliar faces. Her tiny paws anxiously scratched at the edge of the operating table.
Nina gently stroked her belly, leaning in close and whispering soothingly in her ear.
“Don’t worry, little Orange,” Nina murmured. “You’re in the hands of the best doctors around. Just take a nap, and when you wake up, your belly will feel all better.”
With expert hands, Jevon administered the anesthesia. It was smooth as silk from start to finish.
As the needle slipped in, Orange’s little ears gave a twitch, and before she realized what was happening, her eyes grew dreamy, and she just melted into a soft, fluffy puddle on the table.
Nina couldn’t resist a tiny chuckle, giving her chin a gentle scratch as she softly praised, “Our little Orange is the bravest red panda.”
Just then, Loomis couldn’t help but exclaim, “Ms. Summer, your massage technique is really pro! Orange relaxed right away. Would you mind showing me how you do it?”
Nina’s eyes lit up, and she agreed without hesitation, “Absolutely!
“I picked this up from locals when I was rescuing animals overseas, and then put my own spin on it back home.”
As Orange slowly slipped into anesthesia, Nina decided to give an impromptu lesson right there at the operating table.
The top experts and everyone from their teams couldn’t resist leaning in, drawn to watch every move.
Each of them was as focused as a rookie intern, eyes glued to Nina’s hands, trying to memorize how she used slow, gentle circles to calm the little animal.
Once the anesthesia took full effect, the surgery officially kicked off.
Ronan, Loomis, and Jevon stood at the operating table, moving in perfect harmony. Their every move was smooth and effortless.
For these three heavyweights, a surgery like this was a walk in the park.
As they performed the surgery, they still took the time to break down every key move and important detail for Sophia, the veterinary assistant, who was watching intently from the sidelines.
Sophia felt like she was getting a full-on masterclass from three legends, knowledge practically handed straight to her. She couldn’t afford even a second of distraction!
She was jotting down notes at lightning speed, and every time she bravely threw in a question, the experts answered her with generous patience and absolute clarity.
The deeper Sophia dived into the lesson, the more her confidence grew. Soon enough, she was visibly more open and bold, her enthusiasm shining through.
Ronan even found time to praise her. “Ms. Summer, you’ve picked a fantastic assistant. She’s diligent and a real quick learner!”
Nina was busy sorting through the follow-up list for the animals, but when she heard that, her head shot up. She saw Sophia surrounded by the three giants of the field, each one taking turns showering her with advice and tips. Nina’s heart was practically bursting with pride.
She thought, ‘Isn’t this basically getting three legendary mentors to coach her for free? It’s a major win!’
